That surprises me that 50% are for the V6 with the 5.0 coming out. I can't wait to see the mark-up on those.

Well, if it's 300+ hp with 30 mpg, I can see why people would want it. Especially since it'l probably be 10-15k cheaper than the GT.

I saw this coming a mile away, I just hope it doesnt turn into an ADM add on fee frenzy by the dealership and screwing people out of cars cuz they want to make 10k on top of the price tag...

Forget the V6 and GT, I can't believe 9% of those orders are for the GT500! I have NEVER seen a GT500 outside of the dealership. I suppose that number is a bit misleading since those who are willing to buy a GT500 are probably more interested than your average Mustang buyer. Thus, they are more likely to pre-order. But, 9%?!?

If someone's willing to pay it, they didn't get screwed.

The market determines what something is bought for, and if it goes for over sticker then so be it. This isn't the first time that a car with anticipation has come out. Everyone knows by now that if you want the newest and greatest, you have to pay for it. 6 months down the line and the thing will be selling for cost.

Re: Ford gets almost 11000 orders for 2011 mustang

The worst part is if people are paying mark up on v6's and GT's, they are really getting screwed...the car is already going to depreciate when they drive if off the lot...so if they want to dump it after a year, they are losing a considerable amount of money.

But then like you said, those who really want the car don't care about that kind of stuff.

Again, you're not getting screwed paying a market price. Just so happens it's over what the manufacturer suggests it should cost, and that's thanks to a simple supply and demand model. You have a shortage of something that people want, then the price goes up.

I get what you're saying, I don't really have a problem with it, keeps the dealerships in business, but I'd just be one of those who'd wait the extra few months for the hype and markup to settle.

I remember when the GT500's came out there were a few dealerships who were marking them up 20k and others who weren't...in that case I'd say some people were getting "screwed", since they could go to a dealership 40 miles away and buy the same car without markup.

That's the way the local ford dealership is here. I can go to another dealership in the next town and get the same model mustang for 5k cheaper, easy. That's why I'll probably wait until '12 to get a GT, someone will trade one in.

Oh yeah, you'll come across one for a good price with reasonable mileage...anyone who just wanted a mustang and didn't care about having the new engines would probably get a good deal on a remaining 2010 towards the end of the year.

It probably won't be as good as when Ford was really letting them go (I think you could pick up an 08 GT for 13-15k new!) in 09. Now Ford's on the up n up so they aren't desperate to let them go for a song.

Patience is the key.. Think about cell phones, i.e the Apple i phone.. People were paying a ton for them and then the 3G phone came out. The long waiting lists for them, now you can walk in get the phone and leave. Same thing will happen with the Mustang it sure will be fun to watch the numbers and impatient people!

^ my family has always had a philosophy of never buying a new car in its first model year so any bugs can be worked out and mark-up can go away.

one reason why i'll be looking to buy a new 2012 or 2013 GT.

those numbers really are impressive and glad to see people are doing their homework on these cars.

Yah that's very true...best to wait the extra year and play it safe. It seems the newer the technology, better the chance of experiencing problems.

At least that's what I noticed with electronics and appliances.
