hmm I find it very hard to believe it put down 395 on a dynojet with out some out of place correction factor or the drive line is amazing in keeping the power robbing components at bay. The only other choice is its not making 412hp its making 465hp or there about (with a gracious 15% drive line loss)

Re: 2011 GT dyno video and graphs from Edmunds

since when does a mustang lose 10-11% in the drivetrain... more like 17 at best. hmmm that puts it at 465hp if 395rwhp is accurate

Quote:
Driveline loss for a solid axle-equipped car like the Mustang is typically 11-13%. This is a bit less than the usual 15-18% you'd expect on an IRS car, as solid axles have fewer power-sapping U-joints in their driveline. Hence, we should expect to see about 358-367 rwhp from this car.

Clearly, the 395 rwhp figure we measured is of particular interest since it implies one of two things -- either Ford is being conservative with its 412-hp flywheel rating, or the preproduction example we tested is unusually healthy. We're leaning toward the former, but we won't know for sure until we test a production 2011 Mustang.

Re: 2011 GT dyno video and graphs from Edmunds

So can we expect this car to max out at the 550-60ish level then if the 395 # is right on? If so .......wowza! I will still believe it when I see it.

with the high compression, and not much done to the internals... I'm sure you'd need to change some parts

Think back to the LS1 camaro/firebird duo..

At the end of their production run because, aside from engine, the mustangs were far superior in every way and outsold them like whoah.. lol anyhow...

They were rated at a conservative HP # but MOST OF THEM put down exactly, or almost exactly their rated HP on the dyno.. stock..

I think this is the same sort of deal

Plus this was a pre-production car, could have a few tuning differences, different gear ratios here or there, etc...

Re: 2011 GT dyno video and graphs from Edmunds

I thought there was new regulations on monitoring ratings thus the new z06 and gt500 are spot on power wise to what they should be.

Also 10%-11% in a solid axle.. yea I dont think so, more like 17%.

Re: 2011 GT dyno video and graphs from Edmunds

Nah, it's a v8, and it'd probably cost around the same as the 2010 GT's would to insure. All depends on age, location, and driving record.

Re: 2011 GT dyno video and graphs from Edmunds

It will be the same as a normal GT,they won't go off of HP rating. Some insurance companies have Cobras in the "no no" category. But a lot of It will depend on age/driving record as stated above.
