Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

The costs for transportation are very different, I have had about 10 offers, that were in the range of 1,600 $ to 2,500 $. There are many companies who only want our money and it´s not easy to find the best.
Did you have several offers for your desired transportation? I think there must be a way to get it for less than $20,000 !

The "special modifications" that would of had to be done to make it legal I know very well!
Why has every country other ideas, what is legal?
For me it means, I have to change several light components (it is difficult to declare, because I don´t know the technical terms in English), and a few other things.

For a car from Australia it is probably much more difficult, because the steering wheel is on the “wrong” side – or was this no problem?

If you like, I can ask my shipping company for the price from Australia to the States, if you can tell me the harbors. A dream should not be buried without every possible effort!

Yet I don´t know any dates, it will last about a week until the money has arrived at the dealer, and then it will be shipped. Tomorrow I get more information, in Germany it is already 6 pm (six hours later than east cost) and most offices are already closed.

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Yeah, no the $20,000 was the cheapest out of the five transporters I found.

But I am more then happy driving on the "wrong" side of the console. The problem is what the EPA and NHTSA think is safe. It would of had to meet the EPAs fuel efficiency too. So with all that I kind of got discouraged and well gave up because of funds.

Yeah I don't get why safety regulations on an automobile would be different in different countries. You would think that it would be a "universal" safety system.

I am visiting Australia this summer for the V8 Super car Races. So hopefully I could get my Falcon fix while I'm there. Maybe a dealer would be more then kind to let me or give me a test drive in the XR8 or teh XR6 turbo.

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Thanks!
Today my shipper told m, that the cargo ship that leaves Galveston on 05-08-2010 is already complete, so I have to take the next, which leaves Galveston on 05-21-2010.
This ship reaches Germany 3 ½ weeks later, in the mid of June.
Only another 6 weeks until my pony is here!

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Another step is made: yesterday the car arrived at the docks of Galveston!
After signing about 100 documents via fax (no, I don´t have a Social Security Number, yes, I will take the car out of state, yes, I know, I don´t have any warranty…..) the dealer took the car down to the Port.

And I know the name of the vessel, so I can track it.
At the moment, the vessel in Baltimore and the next station is Galveston to take my car. Then it will go to Panama and Colombia, return to the States (Brunswick) and then cross the sea in direction Germany (Bremerhaven).

It is very unreal tracking a vessel which will bring a new car, especially if you didn´t see the car before…

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Intruder4711 - I currently live in Germany (Wiesbaden) and just happened to get on today to read the forums. I backed out of a deal to buy a 2011 on one of the bases and will wait until I return to the east coast. Anyway I wanted to give you my experience with shipping a car over. I am a civilian and shipped a car from Baltimore to Wiesbaden. Total price was 1400 or so for a VW Passat. The company was out of Dallas and they treated me well. I hope the company you picked does the same. Congrats on the purchase of your car from my home state of Texas. I too, hope they treat you well also. Let us know how things work out with the shipping and import to Germany. Maybe one day I'll see you tooling around the autobahn if your ever down this way.

That's crazy.. I think Brunswick is up there in car importing/ exporting.

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Yes, I heard that Mercedes ships all cars from Brunswick. I think that this is the reason that Brunswick is the last harbor before crossing the ocean.
It doesn´t matter, as long as my pony is on board.
@prw302:
It would be nice to meet you on the autobahn! For my shipping I pay $950 from Houston to Bremerhaven, and $450 from Bremerhaven to me, but the way from Bremerhaven to me is longer than to Wiesbaden, I live in the south of Germany, near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 80 miles in the south of Munich.
My shipping company is in Baltimore, but I have a German Agent, to whom I can speak german, that is easier for me!
Will you bring you future Mustang to Germany again, or will you then stay at the east coast?

Re: V6 Coupe - Export to Germany

Next step is done!
Today my Pony has arrived in Germany, the vessel reached Bremerhaven!
Now it goes directly to the garage, where the technical changes are made, and in three weeks I´ll have my car here!
I have one Picture from a webcam, that shows the vessel (green-white) in Bremerhaven.

Oh, in Germany there is a nice little comunity with Mustang-Drivers, ther you find all kinds and years, many love the old ones, and they repare them with much love.
We have a Mustang-Forum in Germany, the language is German, but there are many pictures of the cars, if you like to see: dr-mustang - die us-car community Nachrichten .

Does this put you on the top (or at least near the top) of the food chain in Germany?
