New mustang questions.

I have never owned a mustang before now but i absolutely love it. I have been wondering how wide of a tire can i put on them. Also i have been looking at performance mainly adding a super charger and full exhaust from headers back. So far i have been looking at the roush supercharger and exhaust with kooks headers. Please provide any advice that you have. thanks, JAY

Re: New mustang questions.

welcome! I know many run 10 wide rims on the back with 295 tires, I am thinking they can go wider, perhaps a 315/335 wide tire~

Re: New mustang questions.

Yah depending on the rim size you can get a pretty wide tire in the rear.

As far as superchargers, there are some options out there. Roush, whipple, paxton and vortech all make superchargers for the 2010's. The vortech is a centrifugal style charger while the rest are roots styled.

Exhaust options are huge. The best way to find the exhaust you like is to listen to cars in person or listen to clips online. You could just by axlebacks or an entire system that replaces the piping/mufflers/midpipe up to the headers and buy separate headers.

That's the one nice thing about mustangs...there is no shortage in options for mods.

Re: New mustang questions.

you can go with a single turbo from Helion if performance is what you want, but if you want to keep it simple and have a fun street car a twin screw blower is great.

I wouldnt do rousch if i were you. They seem overpriced for the performance. Id go with a Kenne Bell or a Whipple if at all possible. Oh and if youre planning on dropping the car, you may not wanna go with longtubes, although they will offer the best performance gains.

Re: New mustang questions.

a single turbo from Helion will be about 6k then another 1500 install then another 1000 or so tuning~ (but install/tuning is subjective to all blowers)

It will make the best power all day long, but more hassle and less brute bottom end tq down load, thats why a twin screw blower (roush is not a twin screw blower) would be great for a street car as it makes TONS of bottom end tq, look at my signature at my dyno sheet, its a root blower (not twin screw) but the tq is great.

Re: New mustang questions.

Longtubes on a S197 are not a issue when it comes to clearance.I have the Kooks LTs on mine and you cant even see them if you look under the car.If you have a new edge you might wanna ask some of the other guys about that.

You can make the swap. Understand H Pipes will have higher TQ #s than HP #s (as will cats) and X Pipes will be vice versa (as would be no cats). Although, The difference is very minimal.

To eliminate the Check engine light you will either need a handheld tuner such as a SCT Xcal or DiabloSport Predator to turn the codes off. You can also buy Rear 02 'MIL-Eliminators' which eliminate the pesky codes.
