2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

Hi Everyone!
I am a completly new mustang owner, I have a 2010 v6 mustang, I have done quite a few mods and I really want performance cams! I don't know if there even made for the 2010 v6 but any help would be great! Also thinking of switching to 4.10 gear ratio? Comments? Price to install? So far I was told 795 dollars for labor? I'm excited to have joined the forum, thanks for the insight!

Re: 2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

The only performance cams I know about for the 4.0 V6 is offered by SuperSixMotorSports. But they also suggest buying their heads as well. I keep debating over doing this. But SuperSixMotorSports is the only one I know of.

here is a link to their products

Checked it out, very cool. It claims as you said the need for stage 3 heads... Is it really ness. ? Or can the cams be bought and installed on stock heads?

The few people I know that did the cam swap did the head swap too because it was going to be easier to just take the head off and but the new performance head and cam in too. But personally I would because I like to do everything at once.

also your warranty will all be 100% gone if you swap a cams, if you plan to dive into the motor heads/intakes should follow (if they offer any intakes)

Re: 2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

Thank you SpectorV for the insight. I need more horses, I have so far bbk intake, jba headers, stack throttle body spacer, demon coil, custom dual exhaust with x pipe and flowmasters, question for you SpectorV how much horses do those bolt ons give me? Oh, also sct tuner is on there. And what can I do to get more horses without forced induction? Do the thing I have on it now void the warranty? Thanks for help! And thank you so much for the welcome, so far this forum is absolutly amazing!

Yeah SpectorV brings a good point about your warranty. There is also no after market intake for us six cylinders (or at least not yet).

Yeah, and there's no cali CARB legal throttle body either, bbk has one that fits but CARB is pending, wish I could get more power without forced induction....ideas?

Re: 2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

It's sort of tough to squeeze out any more hp's and tq's without diving into the engine or slapping a power adder on. You pretty much have all the bolt ons and the tune...those will be nice supporting mods for a power adder.

Might want to consider some suspension and drivetrain work. Gears and a tlok are great mods for the v6's. I see you mentioned 4.10's...if you have an auto than 4.10's would be the tallest you'd want to go. 3.73's if your a manual. Also the 7.5" tlok will give traction to both wheels and provide better launches. (+ 2 wheel burnouts )

Also, suspension work ~ springs, CC plates, shocks/struts, swaybars, strut tower brace, etc. won't give you any hp, but will help get that power in line and get you moving/handling better.

Re: 2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

Thats awesome thank you all for all your knowledge and expertise! As I continue I will have more questions I'm sure, as a matter of fact I just posted another that I would love help with, its regarding a tuner and oil temp.???
It seems and I may be imagining things here, that my oil temp is slightly higher? Is that a normal tuner thing?? Any help would be great!

You could also bore and stroke the block to 4.2L and do the head and cam swap. With high compression too.

Re: 2010 v6 Mustang performance cams??

Hi there! Thanks for the continued help! I just installed today a SCT power tuner, I also have the JBA headers, BBK CAI, Stack throttle body spacer, Stack strut tower bar, Demon coil, performance spark plug wires (Does the coil and wires help with anything??) And thats what I got on it! Any other bolt on power adders? I was thinking underdrive pulleys and of course gear ratio to 4.10 if I can find someone to do it for a reasonable price. Any comments on what is the next step here for power? Thanks again I need all the help I can get!
