Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

Yes-the 2010 is the new body/platform. Yes, it's the last year for the 4.6-nice car. For a tad more $, you can get the new 5.0v-which is what I did. I read about this engine from the "rumor mill spinning", all the way to development/production. That's the one I wanted. I surely do not begrudge anyone for their specific choice(s)-having said that..

Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

am i the only one that test drove the 11 gt and 10 gt and walked away with a 10?

the new 5.0 didn't impress me as much as i thought it would have. i test drove them back to back, 5.0 3.73 rear and and 4.6 3v 3.73 rear end. for some odd reason i found myself enjoying the 10 more, especially when i bought it fully loaded below invoice and got 3000 in rebates on it.

yes the 5.0 was more powerful, and the way it could still pull in 6th gear while being low in the powerband was impressive. but overall it just didn't grab me.

when i drove the 10 gt, it instantly felt right, and i was like this is the car i want. that and the engine sounds so much more mean in the 10. gotta give it to the 4.6 for being one of the best sounding engines around.

i dunno maybe im weird, but thats the impression i got from driving both.

The 2011 gts are great cars and so are the 10's. I test drove one about a month ago it was kona blue a great looking car just like the 10's but with a little bit more umph to it.

Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

I not only test drove a new 5.0 ( mistake ) I bought one . I traded in my 2000 GT
with a buch of bolt ons made 258.0 RWHP got the 2000 GT to 13.6 1/4 @ 104.0with drag radials .

The 11 5.0 is a huge upgrade in power from the 2000 . Plus the handling and interior have made significant improvements . It's a much more powerful and refined vehicle . I can see how 2010 owners would not see as much of a difference as I did as the platform / etc is much closer . Hey I loved my 2000 but it was underpowered from the start even with significant $ in bolt ons never got to a power level I was happy with .

So you are saying you basically gained 70WHP with a cat back, cai and tune?

I think your tune played a good part in making your car feel quicker from a dig.My 07 had kooks lts and catted h, mac axel backs,cai,93 race tune, after market clutch and 4.10s so hell yes mine felt quicker from a dig and throttle response with a race tune in any gear would snap your head into the head rest. But you are comparing your tuned car to a stock tuned car.I knew that with a cai, tune, exhaust and the 3.73 that were a option on the 2011 I drove it would be a beast.

That's when I decided to part ways with my beloved 07 this past saturday and drive home the proud owner of a black on black 6spd premium 2011 5.0 with the 3.73s!

If you test drive-you're gonna be d-o-n-e... Well, SpectorV: you have a really nice car. I've owned two Terminators-both coupes. You'll see what I'm talking about, when you drive the new platform. DDTCM:just curious-what did M. Haik give you for your `07-especially in light of the extra stuff you have added to her..?

I was already asked by my tech-at the Ford store-"have I driven the new GT yet?" I had to say that I haven't-yet but, fully intend to. He told me-with a wry grin-"don't, then"
He knows me well. As soon as I drive that badboy-I will probably be switching cars !!
I see you also went from 2008 to 2011, congrats man! I did the same only my 08 was a v6... The difference is brutally amazing and it literally gets the same highway mpg

Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

I'm not sure how many miles your `07 had..I had? 13000 miles on my car. They gave me 19,500.00 in Sealy, Tx. I didn't have nearly as much stuff added to my `08-as you had on your `07.. I have spent thousands on my cars and trucks-only to have "made it alot nicer for the next owner"...oh, well. You can't 'take it with you, when you go'..My MaCh1 had 4:10s. Too rad for ma-around town. I put 3:55s in that car. I know that the `11 has alot more power than my `08. The S197 car sounded pretty bada$$-and was a blast to cruise around in. I'm lovin' my `11, more and more, every day-`keeps growing on me!!

The 07 had 45,169 miles on her.Actually $18k was my bottom dollar if I had done a private sale.

Wow. I would have to say-by the miles on her-you did pretty well, then. I kind of wished that I had "pushed" for more $ at the dealer-but I honestly felt like that was 'fair'..

Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

They started with $14k.....no

Then they offered $16k if I left everything on....no

Then they said you can keep the wheels and we will give you $16k....no

Then they said, what would you take for your car?

I said,"You cant give me what I want but my bottom dollar with everything on it is $18k and I max payment of $300 a month"

They gave me $18k,$1k ford rebate and a $298 payment per month. Then the next day they called me back and said we got you another $500 in ford credit but since the paperwork has been signed they will be mailing you a $500 check that you can put back in the car or use for whatever you want.....**** YES!

Congrats! Sounds like you got an AWESOME deal!

I test drove a pre-owned, yes pre-owned 2011 5.0. Don't get me.wrong, it was nice - just not for me. They wanted $31,000 for it and it almost had 40,000 miles on it. You can quote stats to me all day - unfortunately in this economy I'm more concerned about price & affordability. However I will NOT purchase anything BUT a Mustang - sucky economy or not.

Re: Who has test driven a 2011 GT??

I need to step back in here and reply to the guy with the 2010 saying the 5.0 wasnt as fast and was slow from a dig. These 2011 5.0s learn as they get more drive time/miles on them.I just hit 500 miles and she has really opened up and became very responsive.I have no problem chirping gears all the way to 5th and I can say with all the confidence in the world that any 05-10 with bolt ons couldn't touch this car in stock form.

With CAI and tune I should be making 390+ WHP.
