Cool 2011 5.0 mods..

Okay. I know that I'm not the only member with a new 5.0....
Exhaust: I am kind of reluctant to do anything-just yet with the exhaust-even though there seems to be a few choices(Flowmaster)-that is, manufacturers who quickly put product(s) out, specific to the 5.0. Yes, it's quiet and seems to run really well-so I have to decide what to do with exhaust, and when..?
Shifter: this to me is kind of a "weak spot", in the new 6speed. I have always had a short throw shifter-and I don't think that there is one available, dangit!
Suspension: In my humble opinion, in the Factory's best effort at ride quality and not too much harshness-the shocks are just a tad undersprung . I may just leave this alone, or look at the alternative(s)-these should be readily available, right now..
CAI/Tuner: I have seen that there are a few companies that have something available(SCT,C&L)and I haven't done anything with this. I actually have thought about a K&N, but don't know if there is one available yet?
So-what have you people DONE-and what has been your experience so far??
Tell us all about it!

Re: 2011 5.0 mods..

So far I have an Airraid CAI and a magnaflow competition series exhaust. I chose Airraid because it has a deeper growl with the resonator tube running to the interior, while the C&L seems to sound a little more smooth, I dont know why there is a difference.

The exhaust will be put on tomorrow. The only thing i would advise against is the Magnaflow muffler deletes because it is extremely raspy and I also have noticed that when the cats are removed the competition series cat back can also a little raspy. So here goes nothing.

The flowmasters are nice, but a guy around here has them and the drone kills me. When you cruising you constantly hear a slight monotone drone in the background, which flowmasters have always had. Bothers some people, and others like it. Either way it just does not fit me.

i have also ordered an sct tuner with the Bama free tunes. I figured why not since the shops around here want 650 plus for a custom one time tune. So even though I know its very basic, I think i have almost everything out there for this model. I am not so sure about the X pipe, we will see tomorrow and well i do not see that much of a gain with one.

By the way, the Magnaflows sound extremely smooth. I will have a video up sometime within the next couple of weeks.

keep an eye on the market for a bit, wait on an MGW shifter its worth the wait. You will see dynos and all that wait till they figure the car out a bit more and it will be better in the end

Yes, It is important to have a little better "breathing" ability-but NOT at the expense of one's peace of mind..

Re: 2011 5.0 mods..

Nothing 'done' yet. I'm still working out a deal for a new one. I heard that the new GT500 axle-back sound pretty good on the GTs.

I would also wait on the shifter. I don't think the aftermarket has caught up to that one yet (I'm waiting to see how the MGW performs).

For the ones I have driven, the shocks/struts are better, but could still be improved upon. Always the trade-off between comfort and performance.

I've read some good results with the aftermarket tuners/CAI, but there is probably a little fine-tuning to be done yet.

Re: 2011 5.0 mods..

If I read that correctly, it is a 'tuner' version, which means you will need to get a custom tune to match up with it, which suprised me a little bit. I would have figured someone like Roush would have the engine mgmt stuff all figured out and offered with the supercharger.

...and I thought that I read: you will need it professionally installed, and tuned...Later...they are going to sell the whole enchilada with a Roush backed programmer??
