Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

2007 GT

Pros:
Style
It's a GT
Fast..without bolt on's yet
Color
Still a blast to drive
Sound
Perfect fit for someone my size

Cons:
Paint chips to easy from road rocks
Headrests..hate them, too tall and they do make your chin meet your chest
Suspension...could have used an independent...any small crack and the car wants to flip
Not AWD...hence, not a good snow car
Gets me a lot of tickets!
Cheap plastic parts
No side leg support for high speed turns

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

I love that my mustang fits me so well, I have had other cars in the past that had no place for me to rest my elbows or like my 350z ...the center console was so low that it was impossible to rest your elbows and hold the wheel at the same time. also love the the seat ajustments and padding. .....also love the face that the voulme button on the radio can somply be ajusted with one finger whith out nmoving your hand right from the 5 speed shifter. the whole car fits me prefectly. mine is a 98 gt convertible, it is my seccond 98 and I also had a 96 vert as well. love this car. will never get rid of it unless some toatles it for me like the last one I had. and in that case I would just go pick up another 1994-1998 gt convertible again

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Pros

I finally go a GT500, love every minute of it.

Cons
No int. trunk release
Nav. unit nice but lacking
Manual top release
Have to hold down button to put top down
No light under hood
TPMS doesn't tell you which tire is low
Radiator cover - Replaced
Stance to high - Replaced
No sequential tail lights - Replaced
Antenna to long - Replaced
Center console design, put something in cup holder and you hit it when you shift.
Stripes should have been painted on - Someday
No telescoping steering wheel.

All in all a nice car, definitely keeps the after market companies in business.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Just bought a 2011 GT coupe manual. This is my third Mustang first one was a used 1965 200 cid 3 speed the last one was a 1969 302 auto which I also bought new so it been a few years. In between I have had numerous Ford vehicles including two manual transmission F-150s.
PROS: I have about 700 miles on it and like most everything about it. Sounds great, drives great, 20 mpg same as my 96 T-bird with a lot more kick.
Cons: Right now the only thing I can think of is those headrests. It’s really bad for the wife when she wears her hair in a ponytail, wish they had some adjustment.

Again-more great responses! Thank you people! Since I have had experience(s) with IRS-it's the shnit -I promise. The factory will "convince" a few that the car "launches" better, with the panhard set-up wheel hop, ain't cool, period AWD ?? Ahhm...Okay? To each his own.

I realize that and i'm bad about using the awd in forza on the mustang, but I just could never own an awd mustang. Beats the whole concept. If I wanted fast, ford and awd I'd be snagging up a new SHO which btw runs very close to the new 5.0. I could only imagine one of those things built.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Pros: Well I have to say, Mustangs are just that... Mustangs! I like the availability of aftermarket parts to modify that unique look and make it your own! I think I have just enough girl in it to make it fit my own personality and style!

Cons: The quality of some of the parts are questionable, like the carpet and mats mentioned earlier on here. Cloth seats are pretty uncomfortable. I've had problems with the inside of the door (that peice where the handle and the window/lock buttons are) that gets kinda loose. A spot on the front right bumper has a bubbled and peeling on the paint about 2" around, so I have continuously put some touch up paint on it until it gets repainted entirely. And definitely needs more power!

But all in all, I love my Stang. Great car, great memories

A lot better? You don't think the weight might play into this somehow, not to mention the HP that would be eaten up in the extra drivetrain? Only thing awd will help with is the launch, and I know you can fix that with a little money and thought. No, awd isn't needed. If I want to chew up my tires, I'll just keep lighting up the rears.

As far a another con I did just think of - a better cover for getting to the tail light bulbs. Now that is one major PITA!

That's never really bothered me too much. It is a pain though.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

I think they should offer the AWD option with a button to turn it off/on just like traction control. Traction control on a mustang is stupid waste of money when they can put a trac-loc in it and have the same results for cheaper. There isn't anything that can replace AWD in a car.

Also if they make it able to turn it off you should be able to take off with it on and turn it off on the fly that will give you extra umph on the track.

But all this is, is my oppinion.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

`And I still say that the S197 was the best looking, 'modern' Mustang. The designers of the car-using the nostalgia/'throwback' theme, were spot-on. To date, it has sold more Mustangs than any other platform. As has been indicated-even by me-it does have some inherent shortcomings/cons..

I had an '04 - but it wasn't a GT. I feel your pain though. I always have a hard time trying to get the seat in a comfortable position. My '10 is much better than the '04 in that I can actually have it sit up straighter if I need it to. I also like the adjustable lumbar support function. My husband's '95 F-150 had that and he used it all the time.

Yea my seats really suck balls. I'm gonna go for a set of Sparco or Buddy Club seats, because I don't like the look of Corbeau's in a Mustang

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Pros
Everyone wants to race the stang
Sounds like a V8, more so then the 4cyl
RWD

Cons
Very crappy standard sound system
no bezel for the radio, if you decide to change it
Paint quality

All in all, it's a very good car that can still turn heads.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

If I can add just one more, I'd say the paint job. Sure, I know that eventually paint chips with time from the crap that get's thrown up from the road, BUT, with this paint it seems just by looking at it it chips! I've got chipped paint down to the white coat everywhere! The front is bad with it, but how the hell do I get chips on the rear fenders is beyond me.

buy autozones lifetime ceramic pads (about 40$), I guarantee you won't have any (brake dust)for at least 6 months, in other words your front wheel will never be black and your rear looking clean, they will look the same.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Ive had two mustangs a 2000 GT and now a 2011 GT .

2000
Pro : Great looks , V8 , exaust note , very dependable .
Had alot of fun with this car , shows , races ,fun ford weekend !

Con : Underpowered , paint faded , suspension weak . spent $$$ on mods only made 268.8 RWHP

2011
Pro : ++++ Power , Looks , suspension , comfort - the seats and headrest fit me perfect - brakes , wheels . I really love this car , the upgrades since the 2000 are significant .
Con : Skip shift - fixed with SCT tune , exaust note - I cant hear it enough - YET - Traction- these cars overpower the tires , break loose when you step on it - they should come with much wider rear tires - or even a Drag Radial option

What are the 2011s, 255's? Drag radials would be interesting but ford would NEVER do that lol. Get some 10, 10.5 or 11 inch rims out back with some wide tires and you will be good to go. Mine is fine with 295s out back and 575hp. Stock the 275s with 425hp worked fine as well though.

Re: Your favorite likes/dislikes with your Mustang

Yeah 255's in the rear - you can get some serious spinning going on the launch , 2-3 , and even 3-4 shift alot of runs on the stock tires ive seen are slipping big time and killing the et ... I ran 275 Nitto dr's on my 2000 and was able to run a 13.5 @ 106 with only 268 RWHP . Ive still got some Weld Drag Lite rims 17" s - I wonder if they'll fit my 2011 ?
