Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

you neglected to mention if it was a v6 or v8. I dont think any company (not that I know of at least) makes a turbo kit for the 2010 V6.

If you want the most power then turbo of course, but it will cost a bit more in the end.

And 11/12s on tire? what kind of tires do you mean street tires?

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

I cant remember if its Hellion or not but I think its the one with the best fitment/workings compared to other kits on the market. You should have no trouble pushing 500rwhp on that kit keeping the boost around 10psi or so. That should be plenty to run 11's all day long, probably on street tires.

You wont be able to push much more than 500-550 on a turbo kit though as the engine is not strong enough to hold much more. I would say for a daily driver that you want to keep in good shape run 400-450rwhp and turn the boost up for the track to the tune of 500rwhp~

You can also do a roots blower from KB or whipple or a centrifugal blower (my friend has a paxton blower 6k installed and he is at 480rwhp/tq on 10psi (automatic))

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

do you want to keep the factory (or some kind of warranty) most will 100% void the warranty. Ford Racing makes a kit that if installed by ford etc etc you get a warranty~ it will be a roots style super charger (or twin screw probably). Ford racing = whipple product wise.

The issue is their tune will have hp/tq left on the table... but you should be up there in power with it and may reach your 420rwhp goals.

It will probably cost much more at ford, like 7-8k. You could pick up a GT500 with that extra cash and make MUCH MUCH more hp/tq but its all about what you want in the end.

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

regardless of which way you go you will be looking at 5-8k probably.

A turbo WILL make more power, it will cost a bit more, and all that. Some love the positive displacement blowers for their low end grunt (root blower or twin screw (they are different twin screw is better))

The final option is a centrifugal like vortech, paxton, procharger. Those are great, probably the easiest to install if you do it yourself, and make great power.

For a stock internlal 2011 I think 10psi would be the limit I would push it. With a turbo you can set it up easier to flip between say 5psi for daily and 10 for when you want to have fun.

With a supercharger you cant really do that as its belt driven~ but lets be honest... most wont do anything but leave it all the way up

Not sure if the stock injectors/pump will work but you may need to replace those as well. Most full kits come with those items.

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

If you want to be at 420whp on that motor it wont be a issue.450whp is the safe number to stay around but there are guys on S197forums that are running up to 500 at the wheels.IMO if you dont have the money to fix that thing when it blows stay at your goal of 420.450-460whp is good anything after that is well.....a crap shoot.

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

if it was me I would probably go with a twin screw from whipple or kenny bell. The tune is the most important part, the tune will make or break the car has has to be done on a dyno by someone that KNOWS what they are doing.. and thats something that can be hard to find lol.

If 5k is your limit you might not be able to do it as the kit is probably round 5k and isntall will probably be 1000-1500 bucks then getting it tuned could be expensive 400 bucks to 500 bucks plus tuner (400 bucks) so another 1000 on top~ thats up towards 7500 bucks if the base supercharger kit with all you need is 5k (injectors, pump, etc all included in the kit if needed)

you can check with tousleyfordparts.com for OEM ford stuff they usually have great prices, american muscle has good prices as well and we may have a forum discount for members also.

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

both will get you to the limit of the motor as it is currently, the whipple will probably end up having more low end power but it will take more psi to get you to 450-500rwhp than the turbo will of course. Pulley size can be determine but I would say 10psi would be the most I would want on that car.

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

id only prolly run 8lbs at the most since there is only 1000 miles on the car lol... i was looking at lethal performance and they have the turbo kit for 4995 and the whipple for basically the same price. i just really dont know which to go with.... i like the sound and power of both....

Re: 2010 mustang turbo or supercharger

turbo will make more power on less psi, will be more rare, but will be a little more involved on install and possibly tuning so they say~ but not bad.

Read the fine print, you may be required to have a tubular k member for some turbo kits etc.

yea a whipple/KB blower would probably fit you the best as its been done many many times, its straight forward for the most part.
