Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

As an owner of a 2011 Mustang GT I know you will not be disappointed. I have the factory 3.73 gears with the GT Performance Brake upgrade and from factory, there really isn't much you need to do to these cars, not saying that there isn't room to grow either. The gearing in the manual transmission is unreal

MT82 (5.0)
Input Shaft - 26 Spline
1st - 3.66
2nd - 2.43
3rd - 1.69
4th - 1.32
5th - 1.00
6th - 0.65

It pulls hard and doesn't look back!!! The difference in price is always a bonus and to be quite honest, stock vs stock the Challenger doesn't even come close!

Just my two cents though.

i would say go for the stang...the gt beats the srt8 in performance by far. although the srt8 is possibly better looking imo.

the challenger will be slower, heavier, etc etc... the Mustang is the choice for performance and all around car.

More thoughts, get one of each and only drive the stang on days ending with 'y's. You'll be much happier this way.

I got behind a challenger in a F250 one day...they looked about the same size.

Honestly, I've looked them over inside and out and just don't get the hype. It's a VERY large car that has to haul around all that weight. I don't care if you put 600 hp out of that car, it will still drive like a pig.

Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

While I've always loved mopars, especially the challenger, both classic and modern, the mustang is the winner in all around performance. Hell, handling and agility aren't even comparable, the mustang does circles around the challenger, and as many have stated, weight is a huge issue for the challenger. You should note that the '11 challenger SRT8 is supposed to decrease in price by ~ $500.

But it's up to you, either car would be a win in my book, better than a 350Z or an Evo.
Let us know what you decide!

I'd buy the Camero before I bought the Challenger, I'd buy the Mustang before I bought any of the others.

I'd buy a Toyota before I bought a Dodge. The challenger is a pig on 4 wheels as far as I'm concerned. But I'm completely biased towards Chrysler. --Too many bad experiences with them.

I recently bought my 2011 Mustang and love it. The ride is incredible and the car screams. You will love the fact that it has new side mirrors that eliminates blind spots.

The handling, speed, and styling are all just incredible.

I have to agree with most of the folks' answer(s), here.
(I think it's a little ironic that a guy with such a nice red Mustang-that has also spent alot of time, modding/personalizing, it-is 1)thinking he needs a Dog-dge ..and 2) asking all of the Mustang-heads on this Forum for their opinion(which by itself-is something we all do)about possibly buying the Dog-dge.. (I also agree)with the idea...
Ken-"you need to buy what YOU like".

one interesting thing I found was SMS (saleen motorsports) is producting a challenger model with a supercharger, 500hp runs the quarter in 12.8

guess what a stock 2011 GT? about the same

Lol Jim, I know and I see your point, I just have this fascination with mopar from childhood. I do love my stang and after hearing all your thoughts I'm thinking of trading in my v6. My wife is bias too, towards stangs lol cause she loves our car.
I have a feeling that when I drive both my mind will be made up fast, but let's see.
Spector v- u are right lol

Thanks to everyone for chiming in. It means alot to me.
As usual this site rocks!

On that note...you can also pick up a 2011 SMS mustang.

Ken, isn't your v6 at about 350 wheel HP? You might not feel much of a difference in power, better get the 624whp procharger with it

Ok guys, so here's the verdict. After hearing you out, seeing the huge price diff in the challenger, knowing that I have all te "mustang" resources now I've decided when I do I'd like to get the 5.0 with the brembo package.

But here's what I'm kinda pissed about, I hear from this dealer that I can no longer order a stang??? So now I can't order it the way I want it!? Guys is this true???? I just want a car that I want, I dint care if I Gota go to north Carolina to puck it up, but I don't want to be pushed around.

Guys how do I go about this? What's my next move? As usual I need ur guys help. Jim?

I looked at both, test drove both, I decided on the grabber blue gt. It's faster by a lot and handles so much better, not to mention cheaper. Besides Chrysler and dodge probably won't be around much longer!

Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

Ken,
I say, "bull"-to the dealer indicating that you can't order a car-they are probably trying to sell from their 'available inventory' ?(besides-even if Ford "really" stopped accepting orders/made some corporate decision/change(s)-a good dealer can locate what you want, and transport it in, for you.. (Unless "I recently fell off the map" -or Ford is now doing something I am unaware of...) I would consult with dealers in your area. Find one that will shoot straight with you. As far as I know you can order one. I wish I had the tumerity -at the time of my purchase-to squeeze out the additional $ for the Brembo package.. !!!!

yea do your research, dont get pressured into anything, never hand over the keys to your potential trade in as they like to hold them hostage sometimes (bad sales practice) basically if you feel like you should get out then dont hesitate to leave. Find a dealership that works with you and treats you right and doesnt BS with you. Research helps you uncover that stuff so you know what you are getting.

Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

I had a 09 Challenger RT. Thing was fast. 12.9 at the track was my best. Was a awesome car. Handled great considering the size and weight, especially after I lowered it. Fit n finish was great and to those that think the interior is cheap I disagree. It was definitely on the plain n boring side. But was nice quality with lots of soft touch. As for the looks well I still think it's one of the best looking cars around and the attention it draws is unreal.
That all being said, I traded it for the 2011 5.0 Brembo, full load etc. This 5.0 is a rocket. The fit n finish compared to my old 07 GT is far above but could still use more soft touch. The nav system makes the one in the challenger seem like a Atari. Handles like it's on rails. The after market world for the stangs is 2nd to none. These 5.0's respond so well to bolt ons.
I miss the looks of the Chally but thats about it. Buy what fits your life style, budget and what ever you like the most. Can't go wrong with either as far as I am concerned. Good luck

Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

Jim, spector v, thank you.
thats what i thought too, but this guy was trying to bully me around. The trade in value for the car he gave me was an insult anyway. I think he just didnt want to do the trade in. He said hell give me 6k for my car. i laughed at him lol

yeah my first choice is red seats, black ext. second choice black on black, with brembo package.

lets see where my research takes me.
sugar probe thanks for the advice, i agree that the value for my dollar is uncomparable. i actually really really love the sync tech, navi system in the stang.

well the descion has been made. now its a matter of getting the car lol
thanks again guy!

Re: 2011 mustang or 2011 challenger srt8

there is more than one dealership that you can deal with. They seem to treat you poorly and seem to also think you are stupid and will be an easy pushover. That to me means they simply don't want your business, or that salesman does't. If you really want to you can talk to the general manager and tell him how you feel. If he tries to make it better thats ok as the salesman only gets commission off you so if you don't buy from him he wont get any money.

If the general manager is an ******* take your business elsewhere... I don't want to give money to someone that treats me like that and you shouldn't either.

Trade ins are always a rip off, sell your car on your own.

not to butt in but i think the order banks closed Dec 2 for 2011 models and they are taking 2012 orders soon if not already with the Boss 302's and the GT500's being built first then the GT's will follow so if ordered now i think you are looking at early spring for the new car.
hope this helps and if your dealer is good they should be able to find something for you from other dealers
but i may be wrong too happened once or twice before..
