Remote Start Control

Hi all, another help needed: my new stang came with a Remote Control Start Function. Today I've tested it and pushing the RC button the engine started perfectly. Once the doors were locked I've unlock them using the button in my key and when I opened the door the engine just turned off. What should I have done for not having this happening. Sorry to bother you with that but once again the manual is lacking a step by step guide!!!

ok, but if that is how it works, what is the point in having the engine running before you enter the vehicle? Pre heating or cooling is not enough for me!!!

Well that is the only reason they came out with remote start in cars/trucks. They expect you to turn on the heat or air before you start the car next time. You might want to talk to the dealer to see if there is a different way but mine is a 94 and when the remote start worked it did the same thing. I even tried to fool it with the top down but as soon as I hit the brake pedal it shut off.

Safety,safety,safety... this is the "why"-most manufacturers do not install remote start. It turns into a can of worms -and "bad things can sometimes happen".. It will have some inherant "lack, of"-due to the manufacturer's "trying to still keep things safe"..
`Just enjoy it-'the way it is'..

Re: Remote Start Control

there might be a way to change it within the computer programming, but the most simple way is probably just to go ask the dealer.

Ford can program this to work differently but they aren't exactly allowed to per say. Some dealers with the knowhow will. A lot of the Truck guys have the same issue and there is a way to manually program. Search the web. I'll help when in on a CPU and not mobile

Re: Remote Start Control

where I live it is illegal -
" Anyone caught leaving a vehicle running unattended in the county faces a $70 ticket and one point on their driving record."

If I left my car running without me in it - it would not be there when I arrived .

The dealership i ordered mine from said if i ordered the remote start from them they could program it to keep the car on after u open the door. Problem was the price. It costs twice as much from them...

They typically have a timer shutting the engine off after so many minutes. I think Ford uses 10 mins out of the box.

Re: Remote Start Control

My dad's Monte Carlo has remote start. For his you have to lock the doors and after you unlock them and open them the motor stays on.... His was a used car though so the previous owner might have had chevy program it to stay on.
