headers and mid pipe

Hey guys, im currently planning on getting a roush axleback soon but i dont wanna stop there. I want my car to roar. I want to get a nice set of headers and an x-pipe to beef up the sound and provide a bit more power. Thing is i have no clue what brand to get. Some cost like $400 and some $1100. I know the gt already has headers but some of these aftermarket headers add up to 25 rwhp, not to mention "sexify" the exhaust sound. Suggestions? Thanks guys

Re: headers and mid pipe

Ive been thinking of the same thing so far have the magnaflow muffler deletes , CAI and tune looking for more power and noise .
Long tube headers help the new 5.0 breathe and are good for decent gains
Stainless Works , American Racing , Kooks ,1 7/8-inch headers are all good choices . as far as mid pipe you can choose X or H off road or with cats . I'm going to go with the Catted mid pipe as I dont want to deal with emissions testing or CEL's .

Good luck let us know what you go with , Dyno numbers ?

Re: headers and mid pipe

also if you do all that chances are you will require a tune to make sure the car is safe... thas another 400 for tuner and what ever the tune/dyno time is... so you might as well do an intake and all the other things since the tune is needed for that as well and you dont want to have to have it done again later on

Ah sorry, you are correct. It wont really do much else to change it out unless the air filter is in a box and not out in the open. Regardless just keep in mind what mods alter the car so that a tune is needed and dont do them one at a time as you will have to keep paying for tune updates.

The 2010 may be ok without a tune engine saftey wise, but you will have a check engine light with no cats.

Roush I am sure left plenty on the table power wise as they always do so you can gain more from a good tune.

Re: headers and mid pipe

they make MIL sensors or resistors ,what ever you'd like to call them ,they go between the o2 sensors and the wiring harness , they trick the ECM into thinking you have cats ... and you will not get a check engine light ...

Re: headers and mid pipe

Don't buy cheap headers , they almost always have fitment issues and the quality is ........ well, you get what you pay for ( Kooks , American racing , SLP , Stainless works, Hooker are good brands to go with )

Re: headers and mid pipe

Cai,tune,LTs and a catted mid pipe is gonna get you close to 450. I'm seriously considering slapping all that on my 2011
