2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

There is a never bought 922 miles 2010 GT premium for $25,000. Since I will be supercharging my new model Mustang GT anyway and don't need more than 500 crank hp, I think I should jump on this deal. What do you guys think. The brochure also states that this car only weighs around 3400+ pounds.

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

I really think I should since I was deeply disappointed with the 2 stock 5.0L power delivery which felt slower than my 2007 gt. I realized if I bought the 2011gt a few bolt ons might not be enough to satisfy me so force induction will def be a must. so why not get the slight lighter 2010gt with the new body style and oh black on some type of brown leather interior which seems more like real high grade leather than the new model 2011gts, weird. This car was at the dealership for honestly over a year and a half I think. I remember trying to get approved on it when I had my BMW 330i last year march, and it was there for a while. It looks really, really good like even though it doesn't have the 5.0L you would still buy it good.

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

Sounds like you may have already decided! My opinion is that since you are planning on a S/C you might want to look for someone that just had to have the 5.0L after they bought a 2010. There are a lot of deals floating around for the 4.6L. It is fully capable of handling 500 Crank HP so it would be ok going that route. What S/C are you looking at? There are a lot of choices available, many capable of far more than 500HP if you plan on Forging the bottom end later.

Now that you mentioned it Ford still has the Aluminator short block for 3800 dollars from Late model restoration meaning I wouldn't have to worry about blowing my bottom end. Then I guess I will go with a Vortech with the FFrp intake manifold and FFrp hot rod cams. I would keep the FFrp intake manifold, 62mm throttle body from my 2007 gt before trade since I still have the old parts. How is your Roush stage 2 is it much quicker than the stock 2011gt or not so much since yours is a convertible.

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE. I just this minute got off the phone at 6:25 P:M with Late Model Restoration and they are out of aluminator short blocks and they are discontinued. I also was just told that LMR has 2 2011 N/A with Steeda intake, Stainless Works headers and full exhaust and BBR tune and those two cars are well into the low 11s. Which is the performance I am looking For. Guys i don't mean to sound like a man with split personalities but that 2010 gt can kiss my hinnie. I'm getting the 2011 GT and keeping it all NA. Wooooooo, Low 11s I can't wait. I want my 2011GT Nowwwwwwww.

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

If you are gonna slap a blower on the 2010 why didnt you just keep the 07 and put a blower on it? Its pretty much the same thing unless you just want the new body style.Put some LTs,mid pipe, cai & tune on the 2011 5.0 and you will be pushing close to 430whp. Im not favoring the 5.0 because I own one,Its because I was in your shoes about 2 months ago.

I agree with you about your 07 feeling like it was faster than the new 5.0 (it felt like that for me also) but remember that 07 started life the same way until you got your hands on her.My 5.0 still feels like it doesnt snap my neck into the headrest like the 07 did but its only because Ive had 4.10 in every mustang Ive had and now I have 3.73s.I would love to do 4.10s again but I would rather deal with the 3.73s so I wont have a issue later when a blower goes on.

I love the new body style and that's why I want to upgrade mostly. But since LateModel restoration just told me they have 2 2011gts that run low 11s with a few bolt ons and BBR tune, I just changed my mind and would be getting the 2011+ Gt instead. So as of now My car is up for sale Literally.

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

DON'T DO IT!!! I picked up my 5.0 for 27,8xx... brand new... there is no gas guzzler tax because the mileage is ridiculous and that's going to bump the 2010 (which DOES have the gas guzzler tax) up to about 27xxx anyway.

Ignore anything anyone says about it "feeling slower" that's a crock of shiat, I drove both back to back (manuals) there's just no comparison.

The three basic boltons plus dyno tune get the 5.0 to 490 at the crank...

I average 18 mpg with an extremely heave foot, I get damn close to 30 at 65 on the highway, mileage cannot be bought like horsepower can (I know none of us really care about MPG on a muscle car but mine's a daily driver so it helps)

Seriously, I'm not knocking the 05-09s (I loved my 08 to death) but the 5.0 is in a different league and you'll probably regret going with the 2010 eventually.

Hah... I read this after my "2011>2010" rant... I knew you'd come to your senses lol!

Evolution performance has a gutted one in the mid 10s by the way... people with just a TUNER (ok, and slicks with raised rev limiter on the manual) are posting about 11.7-11.8...

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

Go for the 2011 GT . my opinion is biased but unless your 07 was heavily modded I dont see how the 11 you tested felt slower . what would a 07 be bone stock ? 315 crank . the 11 starts at 412 crank . with minor boltons tunes etc these cars are hitting 11's consistently ! My car with just a start on mods is becoming a beast ...

see MM&FF feb , 2011 "all american shootout "

Re: 2010 MUSTANG GT GOT my attention

If the 2011 is dynoing 360 and more odds are its more than 412 at the crank. In regards to the OPs 07 feeling faster than the 11 I can agree with him on that.My 2011 also felt slow on the test drive. But it had a stock tune and was a fresh engine compared to my 07 that had full exhaust,cai,93 race tune, aftermarket clutch and 4.10s. So of course the 07 felt way quicker from the start and would snap your head into the headrest in any gear. The 2011 sounded quiet as hell and drive more refined because it was stock.Any car stock is gonna feel that way but I knew the 2011 would out muscle and out perform the 07 as soon as I got my hands on it.

On another note the 2011 still doesn't have the kick in the pants like my 07 had but that is only because I went from 4.10s to 3.73s in the 2011.If I decide to stay NA I will for sure be adding some 4.10s!

Don't worry I ain't getting the 2010 no more plus DDTCM traveled the same road I am on right now and I am not a fool not to listen to him as well as my gut instinct. Oh I also have a 62mm LM throttle body and a ford intake manifold, this combo with the CL racer intake makes the engine breath a lot, lot better, it even felt more free than the 2011 GT stock, and not asthmatic like the stock crappy 4.6L tune. But yes you are right stock for stock the 5.0 is superior and with mods the 5.0 stretches even further NA and in my eyes would compare to a 4.6L with a blower. And oh I will eventually supercharge my 5.0 and call it the Kraken. (Release the Kraken).
