LT Headers and catted X

Just got Dynatech Longtube Headers and Catted X Installed at Woodbine Motorsports sounds absolutly brutal with my muffler deletes and ...
making max power = 400.84 and Torque = 364.90 To the WHEELS
Proably could have got more with an off road mid but dont wanna fuss with emissions testing . bottom line --- the car is a powerful beast now pulls and pulls and pulls.

Re: LT Headers and catted X

Maybe I am reading your post wrong and I'm definitely not trying to burst your bubble but there are stock 5.0s making 360+whp. With those mods you should be in the 420ish whp range.

Re: LT Headers and catted X

Lol Jim,I totally didnt mean it like that LbarJ. Ive seen those headers you are running and them seem to be pretty good. Do you have a dyno tune? Its just that Ive seen guys with CAI,tune and axelbacks hitting 400whp already so Im not sure I would do the LTs considering the stockers flow pretty good already.Although I did see a thread on S197forums where a guy had CAI,tune,LTS and off road x putting down 424whp.....thats awesome!

My bubble is not burst thank you very much ! those numbers you quote are from guys running off road X pipes, removing the cats on these cars does result in higher power numbers . However I knew going in I would not see those #'s as I choose to run a catted X . ++ dyno numbers can be all over the place different dynos etc - the results are fantastic where it counts on the street ! And I love the way Long tubes and X pipes sound - extreme musclecar . Lets see those dyno queens at the track eh ?

Going to the spring 5.0 shootout ? MIR 3/28/11 , I am .

Re: LT Headers and catted X

I think I will do the OR H and keep a tune ,for catted and OR so I can swap them out for inspection. Did the LTs help with any low end torque?

Re: LT Headers and catted X

@ DDTCM 60 + hp for intake , headers , tune ? a tad optimistic !

anyhow yes it was pulling like mad put ya right back in the seat even down low so torque was great , I do have a Bama tune with my cai however I did not think a Catted X needed a revised tune well it does today check engine light and down on power on the way to work The folks at SCT said I should order a tune for my new mods - so I'll do that and perhaps I'll pick up more power as well as getting rid of the CEL.

Re: LT Headers and catted X

Great headers, they have had great results with GT500 owners as well.

When I get to that point, I will also be looking at getting Dynatech headers.

Re: LT Headers and catted X

FYI - Check engine light may come on even with catted X and long tubes

pulled my codes - p0420
p0430

insufficient catylist effiency ( or something like that )
in essence the pcm senses the high flow cats are not the same as stock
plus the O2 sensors are relocated further " downstream " in the exhaust path - I suspect the pcm tries to compensate enriching the fuel mixture hence loss off pep

Intake, tune,LTs,OR X and axelbacks......its already been done so its not really optimistic.

This is something an experienced custom tuner can fix with no problem. When I put Long Tube headers and catted X pipe on my 05 I had the same issue. Dez Racing here in MA threw it on the dyno and corrected the problem. 2 issues, hi flow cats are noticed by computer as not being the same and the delay of the signal from the 02 sensors being milliseconds further away will throw a code. Completely fixable by any reputable custom tuner.

+1-on the 'reputable tuner' fix.
