Question: Gear change for a 2012 V-6?

This is an area in which I have very limited knowledge so am calling on the collective wisdom here - I am interested in any and all info concerning the plausability of changing the rear gears in an upcoming V-6 convertible. Since I ordered the convertible model I am blocked (by Ford) from adding the Performance Package option, which includes the 3.31 rear end. So I am stuck with the base 2.73 from the factory.

Is it worth it to change them out after delivery? If so can anyone advise a supplier, and a ballpark cost at what it would run? And what ratio to use; do I just go the whole route and go to 3.73? Seems like most of the GT's I saw on the lots had the 3.73 option as an option on the sticker...

Oh, one thing, I will have the 6-spd manual tranny, just looking for a little more zip off the line, not really concerned about top end. About the only other mod I plan to make is a CAI and a tune, so am assuming I could have the tune account for the gear change also, right?

Appreciate any feedback from you all - thanks!

Changing gears is always a great performance gain. The only reason I would be against it is because its a brand new car and I wouldn't wanna void any warranty. I would say to go for the 3.73's. Is there a way for ford to install them and keep your whole warranty?

If you have a dealer in your area that sells ford racing products they can install it and it should not void the warranty.

the main issue you are facing is warranty, as after the gear swap you need to calibrate the speedo... and you need a tune to manage this. Ford MIGHT do it and keep it under warranty, well all but the rear end that will be voided with the gear swap.

If you are going to do gears do AT LEAST 3.73
