2011 Mustang to Boss conversion?

Sorry if this is a repost, but the more that I read about the Boss the more intrigued I am. From everything that is out there Ford has basically perfected the engine as a whole, which sorta sucks....I bought my damn car to early, but anyways back to the original question.

The boss engine is suppose to be a fairly quick revving v-8 with a number of changes to the internals of the engine. From what I can see they beefed the internals up a bit to compensate for a high, quick reving that this set up has brought on.

This leads me to the question on how much the 5.0 can take before the bottom end needs to be addressed? I do need to do more research, and calling me a true modder would be an injustice to most, but as I transition form a college bank account on to real money, I am becoming more and more interested. Right now I am trying to gage the limitations of the engine to figure out which direction to head.

Really the question would be blown (rousche charger) or n/a, and what would need to be addressed? On a supercharger what would be my psi limit? Also would throwing on the Boss intake really make that much of a difference without some of the other mods, I would imagine the gains to be marginal.

Whipple kit. The dealer may offer a blower kit also. My whipple says ford racing on it. 10 psi should be safe on it easy. Start researching it a bit. The 5.0 is still fairly new but it's out there. If the boss comes blown, make sure the bottom end is the same as yours. Not sure. 10 psi on that thing will feel like you have a second accelerator pedal.

The Boss does not come blown, just an upgraded intake, cams, reworked combustion chambers of the aluminum heads, upgraded main and rod bearings, and crankshaft. Which again ends up with a bad ***, awesome sounding mustang....but only lends 440 hp and 380 ft#'s.

Forced induction. Bang for the buck. Thought the new boss came boosted. Guess I'm wrong. Blowers are easy hp though.

Pick up the new 5.0 Mustang magazine. Should help answer your questions. Tests the kenne bell, as well as some centrifugal supercharges. As far as the boss intake. IMHO your money can be best spent elsewhere. Stock intake mani showed better low end power vs the high end boss mani. Remember, we don't have the same heads and cams as the boss. Do what I'm doing, just wait for a throttle body to come out.

A boss conversion (apart from appearance) is cams and the intake manifold with a new tune.

The bottom seems to hold 624 whp just fine so far so that doesn't look like an issue.

As for the boss intake shining at high rpm that's true, but even with the stock rev limiter there will be a decent gain, raising to 7800 rpm will be a huge gain but only when you actually take it up that high.

I'd go with forced induction, 624 at the wheels is no joke. And 525 is pretty awesome too if you want to be safe

Issue before the latest-HOT ROD-goes through the stuff that 'will be taxed' in the motor'-by power adders/how much boost/HP, from the 4.6L, through the new 5.0, before 'breakage occurs /weak areas that need to be addressed . `Very informative..

its probably cheaper to sell your car and buy a Boss vs building the motor honestly

Re: 2011 Mustang to Boss conversion?

what dyno though? cant really put to much faith in a dyno as you never know how it is setup.

Ford is known to under rate their engines, but I don't think that they missed by that much. I would have to see the dyno and a baseline, like a stock 2011 GT. I really don't think you are gonna get that much gain from the few mods they have over the GT.

I asked more out of curiosity!
