Sound Tube

Anyone remove the foam in their sound tube to make the cabin louder? A reader posted saying it makes the motor run lean? Not sure if it's worth it

Plenty of people have removed it without running lean. I refuse to believe you can affect engine parameters with it.

Re: Sound Tube

I removed the foam for short while. I replaced it after my last long trip =/ Didn't really like the loader sound, the exhaust and engine make such a beautiful noise without that tube anyhow, especially when i get my foot into it. Windows down, and the pedal to the floor is all you need!

And to answer your question no it doesn't make the engine run lean...it shouldn't have any performance effects at all.

Didn't want to remove the whole tube. I wanted to know people's comments on removing the foam in the sound tube to bring MORE sound into the cabin.

Lot of people have done it and liked it. Try it. You can always go back.

Re: Sound Tube

When you get on it hard it will sometimes make a popping noise which is annoying to me.

Re: Sound Tube

Since the installation of my axleback setup-the actual level of sound frm the tube seems to have diminished, nearly altogether. The sound has been 'transferred', more to the back of the car, as if, after the removal of the stock mufflers, and their subsequent back pressure-works in conjunction with the sound tube..

I agree. Once you put in exhaust, the sound almost disappears. Before my exhaust, I took out the cap and foam, and it was noticeably louder in the cabin. It sounded real nice on WOT. I eventually got the Airaid CAI and used their kit to completely remove it.

I finally tried taking the sound tube foam out. I have to say, if u take both pieces of foam out, it gets obnoxiously loud at WOT in the cabin. I had to put one foam piece back in. Just if you do it be real careful separating the resonator. I broke one of the plastic tabs prying it apart.
