3m paint protection scratch guard system

I ve been researching the 3m paint protection Aston Martin and lamborghinni dealers sell it on the brand new rides as an upgrade. Anyhow I called 12 shops that do it I got quotes ranging from 550-1200.00 and guess what lo and behold I found the kit on eBay 187.00 for the enter front bumper, side Mirrors, first 18" of hood and rear quarter panels. Came with a squeegee and full instructions viewable online so I gave it a shot in the dark and it actually wasn't that bad, very time consuming it too me 7 hours but I have to say I feel at ease driving on the highway now with my paint protection supposedly it can take a 1/4" rock at 120mph without chipping paint we will see it comes with a 5 yr warranty and guaranteed to bit damage your paint or yellow I'll post pics tomorrow you can't even see it's there!!

Re: 3m paint protection scratch guard system

Since it's clear, I'm wondering if overtime if it will get cloudy...kind of like the convertable plastic windows. Wish I knew about this a while ago, I've got knicks and chips all over my hood and bumper.

Re: 3m paint protection scratch guard system

Man I am trying to find and buy this kit for mine and I searched E-Bay and the sellers store but cant find a CS model =( I don't have any rock chips yet but I want to get this kit BAD before one pops up. There may be a line but IMO that is MINIMAL CONCERN and looks much better than rock chips and salt-and-pepper from sand.

If anyone finds one for a CS and can post the link, you would be my hero.

Update: I emailed the shop and they said to get the GT package and note that it is for the CS so they can add the painted area around the grill for no additional cost. My next thing is whether or not the GT kit will cover the bottom of the grill around the opening that is painted as well. Real friendly company

Rock on! I was wondering if it would cover the angle leading up to the flat top of the bumper. You answered that question for me, thanks! How bad was it to install with no bubbles? I have been watching mad videos and it looks like a pain, but something I think i could easily manage. What material did you get? The give two 3m choices and an Avery nano fusion choice that is a few extra bucks. Trying to decide it I want the normal 3m or the Avery, the websites dont say a whole lot that makes me think there is much difference

U have to do it in an enclosed area parking garage or garage at home from dirt wax the car prior to install or at least wash thoroughly the key to no bubles is just to take your time it's very time consuming the entire thing took me over 5hrs and if there are any bubles left after 24hrs use a sewing needle and puncture the material and the bubles and fluid rub out and you can't see needle hole, just don't hit paint I followed the video that said start from one side and work your wy to the other, I completely disagree I would highly recommend starting from centering the material in the middle and work to the leading edge my bumper piece ended up not being centered by a 1/4" not a big deal just had to do alot of stretching but just a thought good luck and lots of fluid tuns use the soap more than anything alcohol on edges simply cause it dries faster let me know if u have any questions start with small pieces for practice mirrors fender etc then go for the home run the bumper

wetting the ground can help keep dust down while working, dont want to kick up stuff and get it under the sticky.
