License Plate Protection???

Hey guys. I just got my plate today for my stang and I am leery about putting the plate on just yet. I want to get some sort of backing to the plate or something so that the plate doesnt scratch the paint while jarred from driving. Anyone have anything in particular that they are using?? I was thinking some of that 3M foam insulating tape and attaching it all over the back of the plate, but I didnt know if there was a solution for this already. Thanks folks!

Yeah thats a good idea. I've used that on my vehicles too. Just put a little piece on all 4 corners and your ready to ride.

Mine came with the license plate frame for the front bumper in the trunk but I never put it on. You have to make holes in the bumper I guess, but I'm afraid to as well. I had my Mustang for about a month and I'm in Jersey, haven't gotten stopped yet but this isnt my daily driver so it hasn't been on the top if my priority list. Anyone put the frame on with the existing small holes that the front bumper has?

Re: License Plate Protection???

"Posession is nine tenths of the Law" ..I have had the privledge of owning and driving some of Ford's finest factory hot rods-two Lightnings and two Cobras, and a MaCh1 -and only one of those vehicles had the front plate holder in place.. In my state-you are required to have 'both', on display -otherwise, 'you are taking your chances'.. My `11 had the license plate holder already attached, when I purchased the car-otherwise I would have been 'taking my chances' ??

Yeah my dealer pre- installed mine... With their tag of course. Lame, don't need one in nc and I prefer something over the 2 drilled holes. So it's w/o plate for now

Intersection cameras, some of them take photos in the front to view the driver.

The way you say that, sounds so polite. LOL I find here in SoCal they don't really give a ***** about front plates, especially if you're driving a nice vehicle and not some hooptie. I think they just use the front plate to pull over suspicious people who may be doing something a little more criminal.

Re: License Plate Protection???

Thats what every body says but I think I'll keep my front plate because I work nights and I have gotten pulled over just as the cop said it no one should be driving around at 2:00am But that is what time I get off work sometimes later.

My guess is you might have to pay more for two plates than you would for one.................as usual it's a money game

It also becomes a 'point of reflection', for the radar gun, as well..

Re: License Plate Protection???

If it is a point of reflection for radar guns it don't work I never see anybody go the speed limit and they never get pulled over or they raised the speed limit on the frwy to none.
