Buying 2011 Mustang GT- concern about Transmission Issue?

So I have mentioned this a few times before, but I have a 2010 GT and looks like I might have a taker (lease). Could give up the vehicle in the next few weeks. I want to get into a 2011 Mustang GT but over the last few weeks have read about the transmission issues. Now I am getting cold feet.
-Should I be concerned?
-How prevelant are these issues? I read the horror stories about FORD not backing the issue.
-Someone posted certain dates of production that you should avoid, is that legit?
-I would like to buy used (think it makes financial sense), so should I think that buying a car with 5K miles has safely passed the transmission problem?

I know lots of questions. Any comments? Anyone have issues?

Re: Buying 2011 Mustang GT- concern about Transmission Issue?

Its a 1st production run and things are gonna happen.Alot of the things you read are blown up and there are just as many happy owners if not more with zero issues. Not saying that that dont have issues because they do.....some do. Mine was born 9/15 and is just fine.

Remember alot of people that buy the 2011 are new mustang owners who bought the car because of the hype so they are gonna expect the world of thier new 412hp beast. Some of those owners are gonna expect it to drive like their mazda or honda civic. The other half have owned tons of mustangs and know how they drive and act.I can deal with a semi notchy 1st to 2nd until she warms up and new car owner on the other hand will automaticaly jump to the worst conclusion.

Go for it!!

I have the same issue 1st to 2nd shift is notchy when it's cold. Once it warms it's totally fine. The Coyote motor is so refined I forget about the transmission. Like I said it's only that first shift after I leave my driveway. My T-5 in my foxbody used to do the same thing. I say trade that junk 4.6 in ASAP

+1 even my 07 was notchy from 1st to 2nd. My cobra would sometimes have issues with reverse and that was solved by going into 1st,then into reverse.

I usually 'skip' first altogether -except taking off, at a 'dead stop'. At stop signs I 'slow all the way down', and "roll" off in second. Works like a charm!

I have the same claim as everyone else. I have had a total of 6 different mustangs so far in my lifetime and with each year ford has tried to make improvements. THE 2011 MUSTANG IS BY FAR THE MOST FUN TO DRIVE STRAIGHT OFF THE LOT!
Mine has the notchy feel in 1st and 2nd but honestly it goes away before I make it to the main road.

I think most of the issues were resolved with a fluid change to a better fluid to work at colder temps~?

Yeah they have a TSB out that calls for a different dual clutch liquid. I haven't had mine in yet to see if they are actually changing it.

Don't buy one. It has a tq rating of 365 and will explode if you put any more power to it.

Re: Buying 2011 Mustang GT- concern about Transmission Issue?

Weird my 2007 GT shifted very buttery and made even German cars and Hondas look like ****. A Roush Tech told me that the 5.0 6m is not as strong as the 5m in the 2005 to 2009 GTs when road raced, however aren't there shops that can beef up these trannys.

I have a 2011. 5.0. I have had no problems with the shift issue as of yet. Only issue is the short hesitation I get somtimes when I am gunnng higher on the rpms but when I get the tune from bama I understand it will fix it. I noticed if you let the clutch out a little slower you can also avoid the hesitation.
