Exhaust Recommendation for 5.0

I'm looking at Borla Atak and Magnaflow competition cat back exhausts and wondered everyone's suggestions and experiences. Looking for a good low growl, high flow and performance gains. Suggestions?

Re: Exhaust Recommendation for 5.0

it will be louder than the stinger one, not any more hp but should be good. the axle back setups on the new ones dont give nearly the hp gains older full catback systems used to give.

I believe Roush only offers an axle-back. Magnaflow and Borla offer cat-back systems. I'm probably going to go with the Borla ATAK cat-back when I start modding.

Just a tough call when Magnaflow has a system that is $700 cheaper. $700 sure can go toward other mods. Too bad can have two side by side to hear the differences. I'm partial to Borla but $$ talks.

I went with the axle back Roush. I love it. Sounds great. Had many many complements. It was 450 and had it put on for 50 so 500 for everything.

The 2012 BOSS has removable disks for the exhaust. Does anyone know if the 11-12 GT has those disks?

That x pipe has the cats included already welded in, looks exactly like an x pipe but with Lil highflow cats, and you can hook up any axle back you would like

380.00 axle back slp loudmouth sounds better than anything ive heard so far, bang for buck. That's what I have right now and I love them. I'm debating if I should add an off road H for that deep muscle growl I personally hate the raspy sound of X pipes. Makes the exhaust sound like a garbage can IMO

I've heard that about the x-pipe creating a rasp versus a deeper growl. But isn't the x-pipe more free flowing? So you'd get more back pressure from the H rather than the X.

I'm with u there, i hate raspiness, a deep throaty sound is sexy, the 5.0 is already faster than most cars out there... I just ordered the Borla S-Type axleback, I can't wait to get it

Now what happens when you put on a supercharger? Would the X be a better choice in the long run? The HP difference in the free flow might make a difference. Thoughts?

The real question is why would you want a supercharger, voids factory warranty- check, deteriorates the life of your motor by 30-40% - check, empties your bank account - check, burn through more tires the list goes on and on there's a **** tun of negatives and the 5.0 is already a beast. I personally will never add a supercharged to a motor unless it comes from the factory just my opinions

Its all in how you treat the car after FI. If they were that bad on the engine they would never make a factory supercharged vehicle.

They are that bad that's why they void your warranty! Cause the number of destructive elements involved in forced induction are exponential. Google it, and they come from the factory with them because they have grown so popular and it promotes sales. Your paying for it, and the warranties expire right when your engines gonna expire 36-60k everything goes down hill from there. It's only a matter of time before ford has to follow everyone else's lead and goes 100k manufacturer

Then what about the cobra? I planned to use the same SC as what is on the cobra and it would be dealer installed so it doesn't void the warrantee. That is what the dealer said.

The dealer only warranties their supercharges for 12,000 miles after installation look into it and installation at 95.00hr x 10-12hrs count on 12, 1200.00 plus the blower and additional parts required to be upgraded to handle the blowers power in the motor. Ie cams, radiator, battery driveshafts etc it's a massive list and to only save a second on a quarter mile and half a second on your zero to 60 I honestly feel it's a waste of money keep in mind I'm only telling you my opinion for what it's worth and to each their own. I would rather drop 5k on appearance and have the baddest looking stang out there and my stock 412hp over a stock looking GT and 500hp

Thanks for the comments. It's what I want to hear. My plan is exhaust, air box, boss 302 intake, lowering kit and suspension upgrade. then a performance tune from ford racing which they said I could get a gain of 15% on HP. Then exterior upgrades such as new hood, bumper, and fat wheels. The SC was something if I had extra $$ down the road. But probably true, should have gotten the super snake. maybe next time.

That sounds like a pain in the *** I would rather get a Shelby than to go thru all that!! I baby my GT like u can't imagine. I don't even like taking it to the dealer for oil changes (I always do it myself cuz I hate anybody but myself touching my car.... I only do it there to stay under warranty for the 1st 3 years)

I have the boss 302 intake and steed CAI, and the slp loudmouth axleback and 4.10 gears with a blow by racing custom tune and let me tell you the car feels like it's got an additional 100hp lol those are all worthy upgrades with the boss it seriously feels like u hit a nitrous switch at 7k rpm u gain 50hp alone from that manifold. I just wouldn't do it everyday lol it's scary being in the redline area
