Tire size for 5.0

I'm looking around at wheel and tire options for my 5.0 and I found some really slick looking 20x9 [1] and 20x10 [2] wheels. I would run 255/35ZR20 on the front and 295/30ZR20 on the rear. I take it that the positioning on the GT500 wheels are no different than on the GT so I would assume these would fit. Does anyone know? I know DDTCM said he was running 285/30ZR20 on the rear but I wanted to go a little wider to 295. Still plan to put drop springs on so need to make sure I still have clearance on the rears.

As a second thought, I really like this flat black design but I take it the price for the wheels are so high because they are Shelby SS wheels. Wonder if anyone has an alternative? Remember, these wheels will have to handle 700+ HP one day.

How so? I'm not a 1/4 mile car where I need the rubber flexion for a hard launch.

how much are you looking to spend on wheels/tires if its 3500-4000 or so there are better options.

Looking for some good powder coated black wheels that look sick. Tires, still want to up to the 285/30R20 or 295 if it will fit with the drop springs for the back. What is your suggestion?

Re: Tire size for 5.0

contact steve at trueforgedwheels.com its where I got mine from. Or if you want you can look at Vossen wheels as well my friend (search for posts by cutterwolf) has some of their wheels. All those above companies can do any finish anyway you want etc.

I like TF's wheels due to the lip can be massive and its a two or three peice etc. Mine are two piece because I dont like assembly bolts on my wheel style or car style.

Re: Tire size for 5.0

I've never understood the reasoning for buying 20s... and with 700+ hp? if you aren't using it for strip use, i doubt youd be using it for track use... just to say you have it? I mean if it's just gonna be a show car go for the 20s they are clean looking..

Re: Tire size for 5.0

20's on the S197.....yes,new edge and below....HELL NO! I agree,700HP and 20s no dice. I mean do as you will but why would you want 700 HP if you arent gonna track the car, wouldnt 450-500WHP do?

Hence why I'm sticking with CAI, exhaust and intake upgrades. Then once the intake is on I'll tune and then get 20" on some nice black powdercoated wheels. Hope to get up to 450+ RWHP. I'd like to get up to 500 but not sure where to free up some horses. Thanks for the comments. The SC is an afterthought.

Re: Tire size for 5.0

I personally love the 20" wheel look with a drop on the S197s but a 18 and 19 can look just as good when done right. Its all about fitting it with the vehicle. When you get that much HP its all about functionality and how you plan to use it.

most with 700rwhp cars dont do anything with them but drive them around, its just for bragging rights honestly if its much above 450 on the street.... without a sticky tire thats not safe for the street to begin with

Re: Tire size for 5.0

I like the way the SS wheels look -kinda reminds me of the Brembo package wheels. I would seriously shop around on the `net, for best price. I found when buying my last set for my `08, there was a wide variance-as much as 1-200.00, each !

You aren't going to get 450 rwhp with intake and tune.

lolwut?

If someone says they have 700 hp and don't race, then they probably don't have anything near that.

many 03/04 cobras have 600rwhp/700+ at the flywheel and dont race, its just really easy to get there on those cars. I have 470rwhp and I dont ever race~
