Ghost cams for the 2011 have been halted by Ford.

The ghost cam idle option has been removed from all major tuners websites.I heard it had to do with the track key from Ford for the Boss. Something about how it's not designed to work safely with the GT's being that they have different exhaust cam specs and could cause damage.

Quote from Evo,"I've heard from a very reliable source that one of the value file loading companies out there have 8 customer cars from all over the US that have blown engines".

It is possible that Ford found out that people were doing this and thought......hey thats like the boss tune key......wait....that was our idea and we can make money off of that.....stop the presses!

There's no way they can stop individual tuners from doing what they want...

Apparently they have because no one is sending out ghost cam tunes anymore. Even Evo will tell you they are not sending them out and they were the first ones to develop this tune.

Lol! Well that didn't last very long haha, I bet they will tweak this to work properly on our motors eventually, if ford is forcing people to stop selling these tunes then it's not because they cause damage- it's because they work perfectly fine and ford wants to profit from it

There are already several cars that have blown motors because of this tune (read above) so I'm sure they will soon be coming out of the woodwork.

I highly doubt ford is trying to ruin this for you. The new engines are a whole new design. They just got to get the tune right for you. Ford makes enough money. They aren't trying to stop the ghost tune

After talking with a rep at LethalP I learned that there are some Legal issues with Ford and the ghost cams, so they are no longer currently available........it's legal issues.

I 'like' it when we get all of the pertinent information, beforehand -so that we can factually alert the membership..

Re: Ghost cams for the 2011 have been halted by Ford.

The Ghost Cam tunes haven't been linked to damaging any vehicles, that I've heard. There was an un-related issue (read about cylinder #8 issues on other forums) that seems to have been solved, which may be getting crossed with the news of the ghost cams.

We started working on a Ghost Cams idle tune based off of the parameters we had access to in our software. We had a difficult time getting the car to idle properly, and automatics were surging pretty badly (our own cars, never tested on customer vehicles). Shortly after, we were provided a "value file" for it and it continued to stall. I called Jon Lund to see if he had any idea why it was stalling and on the hunch that there may be more parameters that were missing from the software to control idle. He confirmed parameters WERE missing and also confirmed the value file was based off of his work.

Ford asked him solely to stop selling the tune because they want to patent the technology, and said that if sales continued in the aftermarket (not just him, but in general), they were going to ask that this option be removed from all aftermarket tunes. Now it's not being sold out of respect for Ford engineers, and because aftermarket tuning dealers can't properly control idle quality without these parameters. Fred from Evolution (who I love, don't get me wrong) is just stirring up drama.

If anyone is still selling this tune, it's a version that will likely have driveability problems. This is why we never released it. At this point, I don't think that these parameters are going to become available. Even if they were, we'll probably still hold off on it for numerous reasons.

All of our tunes are written on a Dynojet 224xLC in-house as well as tested/developed on the Streets of Malvern, PA and local tracks. We have access to 165,000 square foot of nothing but Mustang parts for our Bama specialists to test on with any of our 9 company Mustangs, which they do on a regular basis. Our dyno is running 5-6 days a week!

We also have over 29 Mustangs owned by employees that regularly get random accuracy tested with our mail-order files. Being SCT's largest dealer in the world, we get a TON of feedback on our tunes (datalogs, dyno charts, etc.). We focus and specialize in Mustangs and know the PCMs as well as any of the competition. We have a 10-second automatic 2011 GT, one of the fastest in the country for its' mods and you can check out our videos on our YouTube page!

We write each individual tune based on the modifications, pcm code, octane and requested tune that the user submits. We do not stock an "inventory" of pre-fabbed or "canned tunes". I hope this clears everything up!

If you don’t know what a “Ghost Cam” is, it is a tune that gives your 2011 Mustang GT the aggressive sound of an aftermarket cam. You can find many videos of cars with the tune on YouTube. It offers no actual performance benefits but makes your car sound really awesome at idle. The tune was discovered and created by Jon Lund and up until a few days ago was offered by a host of aftermarket tuning companies.

So it gets you all the negative aspects of a big cam (or cams, I guess, for you crazy OHC guys...), with none of the benefit. Awesome.

I would jump on a track key for my GT in a heartbeat if they went that route. I hope I don't just get my hopes up for nothing. I read up on the blown engine threads and it seems pretty unfortunate, but who really knows what that was all about. Let's just hope it isn't ford trying to bury all the tuner companies in an attempt to brush a design flaw under the rug. I want my car to last my entire lifetime and for generations to come.

I dont see how Ford can stop anyone from selling a tune... they should be free to develop the tune anyhow they want, sure it may void the warranty but thats between the tuner and the owner and Ford should have no say.
