Clunking Gear Shifting

Something I've noticed is when at low speeds and low rpms that It is almost like i hear the gears grinding. And if I am slowly moving say under 5 mph in first gear up a slight incline and then push in the clutch I hear a clunk. Not sure how to describe it but after reading about a 5.0 engine blowing up because the clutch bolts came out I wonder if the sounds I'm listening to is normal?

There is a TSB for both problems you are mentioning. No, the sound is not normal, but it is normal on these cars. You need to let the transmission warm up before rowing gears at low rpm. If you have an early build car and the bolts do back out, there is no way that it could possibly cause you to blow your engine.

You said you are going to replace it with a boss engine if it blows under boost anyways, so who cares?

Good point on the replacement.
