Which supercharger?

Ok so exterior of my car is finished. Time to force feed the girl. My question is simple, which systems do people already have and what are your true thoughts. I have had a procharger on my 05 and still have my 04 with a procharger so that is what I am familiar with. I am wondering if the Ford Racing kit is worth the warranty?

Honestly go for a roots supercharger. Your low rpm torque will be much higher with one. Like a factory 03 04 cobra

Re: Which supercharger?

hmm good question, a single turbo will make the most power per psi... but a twin screw will give you the best street car driver (low end)

A centri is easy simple and it works... as far as brands whipple for roots (ford racing has one), or paxton/procharger for centri.

Re: Which supercharger?

I think it all comes down to what you want. Both PD and Centri blowers have pro's/con's.
The roush blower seems to be the real top dog right now as far as track times. Least with it being a shop car. But the Procharger/Paxton seem to be making the most power. The guys with them just haven't really been hitting the track. No matter what every blower is in the 10s.

I will be going with a procharger stage 2 with upgraded blower. Goes great with the Boss intake and great power for track and street. Plus the building of boost lets me not worry about traction when on the street.

Thers a few that have warranties. Frpp and edlebrock have powertrain warranties. If I rmember correctly others just warranty the supercharger. Other than that, there are a pretty good mix of what people are getting. I personally like twin screws and will probably go with kenne bell or edlebrock for their warranty.

With good is that much higher tq if you are spinning the whole time. Also I know a bunch 03-04 cobra's that have went turbo or centri.

Only the FRPP 525 kit comes with warranty.

The Edlebrock only keeps warranty is nothing else is done to car. Exhaust or anything. Soon modify it from stock car with just the SC on it you lose the warranty.

I have looked into both kits and warranty.

If you are worried about warranty go with the FRPP 525hp kit or just don't get a supercharger.

If memory serves correctly you work at a dealership? When the ford racing supercharger kit is installed at the dealership does it still void the regular warranty and they only warranty the supercharger work or what?

Re: Which supercharger?

I would not go with a roots blower, if you go with a positive displacement blower go with a twin screw (roots is not the same as twin screw)

The warranty isn't a real big issue for me. With that being said the other half of my household prefers to maintain some type of safety clause or warranty if I upgrade. I am curious to know but will make the ultimate decision on overall value.
I guess I should also mention I don't run the car and only get the supercharger for daily driving fun or "merging into traffic when I need it" as I often tell the wifey.

True bad they wanted more power than the supercharger put out. He want a supercharger. Not a turbo

Correct. Or at least that is how it is here. You are putting strain on all the components (engine transmission rear diff driveshaft.) that the car was not designed for. Now you can check with your dealer. They might do it differently. And you might be able to talk about warrantying it with them

Re: Which supercharger?

I belive the supercharger retains the 3 yr/36k if installed by ford and the tune is not changed~

I personally think a twin screw is a great setup for a street car vs centri, you dont get the noise though~

Re: Which supercharger?

If just want a street car I would probably just go with the FRPP 524ho kit. Maintain full warranty if ford dealer installs it. Plus still have about 450whp to get up and go when need it.

Ok been reading the thread about the Hellion kit and I was considering getting that one. Price and power seem to be a little better than a supercharger and from what I gather of I decide to go more than 9psi all I need to do is upgrade internals. True or false and thoughts?

Turbo>*

But, the hellion kit is pretty much crap. You have exhaust pipes running under your k member, a pointless intercooler, a lawn mower air filter, and a turbo that will be glowing 1" from your plastic bumper assembly. Don't be the first one to buy it.

It's cheap because it's cheap. If you want a turbo you would be better off having one built for you, which isn't cheap.

Any of the well known, proven names are worth your time and $$$....Procharger, Vortech, Whipple, etc...

Not only does it run under the K member it runs threw it. Guy on modularfords is installing a kit and mentions ho wit still runs threw it. I know i don't like that idea

I have a friend who has had nothing but issues with his Hellion kit on his 08. He finally said F' it and ripped it off and went with a KB. He also has a 302 crate engine in it and not the 4.6.
