I'm gonna be in trouble with the wife!

So I currently own a 2010 GT. I love it. But ever since I got a look at the new 5.0 I've been a bit jealous. I've been keeping an eye on the local dealer's inventory via Ford's website and saw a 2012 Black GT w/ Track Pack on the lot. I rode out to the dealership yesterday to take a look...you know...just being curious and all. Turns out it wasn't actually on the lot. I was told that it's most likely on the way. I gave them my number and told them to call me when they find out when it will arrive.

I got a call this morning. "They just pulled the car off the truck."

...I think the wife's gonna be mad.

yup many 2010 owners feel the same way, gotta do that research before buying if the deal is good and you talk it over go for it if not have to keep what you have

It's easier to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission.

I was talking numbers and they've confirmed 0% APR on the 2012. I've currently got 1.9% APR. There's a couple thousand in savings right there. SEE...I'm being practical.

Do what I do just before ordering a new mod. Call her and tell her you did it, judge the reaction and see if it's worth dealing with. If so haul butt and get it. When I tell the wife and she just says " fine" I am the quickest ordering fool out there. If she goes off and starts yelling I give the ole hey baby just kidding you know I wouldn't just go spend money without permission.

I did that exact same thing when I bought my 5.0! Awesome tactic, she was like "oh well if you have to have it..." I was back in the next morning signing the papers

Yup, I'm freaking out over a tuner. I wouldn't be coming home for a few days if I bought a whole car!!!

Ha, I guess you just have to make a decision.

Wife=costs money(not including the big 15k+ down payment to get home), b*tches a lot, moody, and when he gets old, she looks like it...

Or.

Choice #2 2012 5.0:costs money(still a down payment) much cheaper though, won't b*tch(the only sound you'll hear from her is the beautiful rumble of a v8 and the chirping of the tires when you shift), as long as you keep up with maintenance she'll run great for a long time, and the best part! You can modify her to look like a model! She'll never grow old, always get compliments, and you'll actually enjoy washing/waxing her when you've had her for over 10 years.

What's your choice?

Re: I'm gonna be in trouble with the wife!

I say-take her with you-let her see the performance, and the thrill of the 5.0, and she will be chomping at the bit-as much as you!

Re: I'm gonna be in trouble with the wife!

I dont understand the whole "My wife will be pissed" or "She wont let me"

If you do the homework, its in your budget and you sit down and talk about it then everything should be fine. If its gonna put stress on bills and what not then you dont need to think about it. Not trying to be a dick but its all about communication with these things.Ive had 4 mustangs in the past 5yrs and never had a issue or shes never had a issue with it.We discuss the price, payments, insurance and I always make sure that im not digging a hole for myself, her or my sons well being. I also map out a payment plan which helped me pay off a 4yr loan on the 07 in 2yrs. By doing that it put me way ahead on the 2011 and if I sell I can pay it off and still have enough to buy something else.

My rule of thumb is,"If you cant afford it,you dont need it"

I agree, Dan. I couldn't just show up with a new car. I would test drive it and bring it home and let him see it. But our decisions are made together. He loves cars, too, so we always think rational and if we can afford it.

Again, great to be a woman/wife on Mustang forum

Yep! I completely agree. I'm truly just joking around a bit. She's coming to the dealership with me. It's always great to have an understanding wife!

I decided not to make the buy. Actually...the numbers were pretty damn good and I love the 5.0. It came down to color. I just really love the Kona Metallic Blue that I have now. Sooooo...I'm gonna go by this week and order one instead. It'll take a little longer...but I figure if your gonna spend the money get something just the way you want it.

Good decision, and you can get all the options you want to... Any person I know would have just bought that one because they couldn't wait.

It's also your wife, if this one isn't working out, trade up for a new model.

Just do it, don't ask and after you will have plenty of time to drive it while she cools off, just say you thought you were doing the right thing ?

Get a 2012 5.0 the same color as your 2010 and she won't notice the difference.
