First Long Drive

Just finished the longest drive I've had in the stang from cincy to pigeon forge and back (over 300 miles each way) and I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed. I averaged close to 26 mpg on 3.55 gears and the drive was very comfortable. There was no drone (as expected since I still have the stock exhaust) and the suspension was very smooth. I couldn't be any happier.

I'm wondering if everyone has had a similar experience. I know I'm looking forward to more road trips now.

Yup same thing here, I have biweekly drives that are 200 miles each direction and my average is 26 but with 3.73s. It get s slightly better mileage than my 4.0 used to get.

Re: First Long Drive

My drive/ride to Raleigh from Charlotte wasn't too bad. Only complaint was the noisy exhaust gets kind of annoying after 2 hours in the car...

That's a long drive, but I'm sure it's a fun one, especially when visiting family. I've been considering the trip for the AM car show. I've heard it's really good, but idk if I'll be able to make that drive.

Sounds like most have a similar experience. I'm still impressed with how well this car does on the highway, especially since it's a V8.

Just out of curiosity, anyone with mods seen an improvement in mpg? I can imagine a CAI with tune yielding 1 or 2 mpg more, but I'm assuming a blower would drop it a few right?

Re: First Long Drive

Sounds like a fun trip. I got 23.3 mpg in my 2010 auto with 3.31 gears on an 160 mile trip out to my sister's place in PA and back. After in installed my exhaust & my JLT Oil Separator my highway mpgs went up about 1 mpg on average...

Maybe I'll see you there. I'm planning on stopping by the AM show with the local club I'm in...

I doubt you will get better gas mileage with a tune, unless they lean it out a touch under cruising load. Mine still gets around 25 mpg @ 70 mph.

I've driven back in forth between Greenville, Texas and Florence, AL several times in both my '90 and the '06 GT I had for a while. Needless to say, the '06 was a much more pleasurable interstate experience.

I love gatlinburg and pigeon forge. I have photos from the car show where hot rods just lined the streets.

I drive From fort campbell to Atlanta regularly to see my kids. Mine is a perfect "grand touring" car. Even with the 3.73's i get about 25-26 mpg

We used to go every year and rent a cabin but my mom moved to PA so we have been going up there lately.

I used to go to pigeon forge every year with the family, but school and eventually work got in the way. This is the first time I go in a long time but I'd like to start going every now and then. Its a great place to take a break from work.

I love renting a cabin. Those are the best! That sucks. You will have to make it a point to plan a trip with her again

Yeah we parked at a tourist attraction and just walked up and down the main rd. People were sitting in lawn chairs. Reminds me of Turkey Rod run in Daytona on A1A.
