3" Cobra Jet Replica Cowl Hood

I just installed my 3" Cobra Jet Replica Hood from Blow-By Racing on my car the other day. Here are some quick cell phone pics I took.

Re: 3" Cobra Jet Replica Cowl Hood

11.55@115 is my best to date.

I'm going to be adding a 3" x-pipe, boss 302 manifold and a Steeda CAI onto the car here soon. That should put me really close to the 10.99 mark.

I had to take the Steeda CAI I had on before off for the class I was racing in. I was racing in NMRA's Factory Stock.

Here are two quick action pictures.

Didn't realize you had the OR H, (thought it was the or x) any difference in gains? I just prefer the H sound over X.

Yeah, the X-pipe will equalize the exhaust pressure better and it'll also be a 3" x-pipe where as my H-pipe is a 2.5" so that it would pass tech in the class. The 2.5" killed the power. I'll probably gain around 25 hp with the x-pipe swap.

So I'm assuming you have the 3" over axel pipes also? Is BBR making a 3" H?

No, I'm still gonna run the 2 3/4" flow tubes from the factory. 3" x-pipe has the proper step down to work.

I don't think BBR is going to be making a 3" H-pipe. They had a test one, but it made significantly less power and sounded no different from the x-pipe.

Interesting,Ive been waiting for their OR H but if there is no sound difference whatsoever then i will go with the OR X.Is this the one that you will be changing to?

Re: 3" Cobra Jet Replica Cowl Hood

I know this is a direct bolt but by not changing the overaxels from stock to a 3" will it see lower gains then the guys running a 3" OR X and 3"' overaxels? Im assuming it wont....

So how difficult would it be to swap out the off-road with the stock for emission testing?

That's a breeze brother! Just keep a tune with the catted mid pipe and a tune with the OR mid pipe and switch em out for the inspection.

The over the axle flow tubes wont change horsepower or anything. Aftermarket catbacks and axlebacks are good for only sound, no horsepower gain, hints why the 3" over the axle pipes are good for no power either.

Question then... How do these companies claim a HP gain with the different pipes but yet you say there is none? You'd think someone would sue for false advertising.

They usually claim a 5 hp gain. That could be air quality at time of dyno testing.

We've seen no true gains.

That's exactaly what I thought. I know the axelbacks give absolutely no gain but questioned the 3" catback....good to know.

it really is. 11.50 cars are quick and fun... Very low maintenance too. I laugh b/c the other guys in the class are sitting there checking all this stuff in their cars b/c it's literally an all out race car for them, then I pull up in my daily driven street car for this class and I'm sitting in the car doing nothing. I set my tire pressure and that's it. Tune is spot on and that's it. I even drive it out of the track at night to the hotel and then back the next day... It's awesome.
