Sport Mode

Has anyone gone to the track and launched in "Sport Mode". If so, were your times better with Traction Control and Stability Control off completely?

Been wondering the same thing but from my personal experience "not on a track" traction control and advance track both off is still going to get you out of the hole faster than anything that cuts power to retain traction. You can definitely feel the difference

If equipped...while pressing the brake, press the traction control button twice. You will see "Sport Mode" show up under tach.

From Mustangforums

If you're at the track, and you're a novice driver, I would put it in "Sport" mode (two taps with brake on). This will allow you to slide the tail out, lay a little bit of rubber, etc. but will (try to) keep you from doing 360s and sliding off the track into tires, etc. If you are an advanced / experienced driver, I would completely disable it (brake on, push button for 5+ seconds).

If you're doing a straight-line burnout I would disable TC and leave ESC on (single tap). This serves as a safety net in case you start getting sideways and heading towards stuff you didn't want to head toward. If you're in the middle of an enormous parking lot with nothing around, I'd go ahead and turn it all the way off. TC is the part that keeps your tires from spinning; ESC is the part that tries to keep your car from pointing in a different direction than it's traveling.

Re: Sport Mode

My understanding is that you have to have a 'premium' GT to enable sport mode.

I ran a 13.2 bone stock with Sport Mode off

Sport Mode fully on 12.8

Those were my best times

Full Exhaust, Cold Air, 93 Octane tune

Sport mode fully on 11.9 best time yet

Re: Sport Mode

ALL I see on my Automatic is a Traction Control System button, nothing else. When I push it more than once, all it does is turn off and on, nothing else, no "sport Mode" notice or anything like that shows up. But I did notice a difference at takeoff when I turned the TCS button off, pressed the Ocerdrive button off temporarly, it did take off faster, did not do times. Anybody have any opinons or advise on what to do to test, or is that all mine has is a TCS button on and off???

Hold down the break and double tap, it will say "sport mode" when you do. Also, hold down brake and hold for 6 seconds to turn everything off completely.

You can spin in 3rd at 65 mph with it all off

Re: Sport Mode

I saw Sport Mode feature right after I bought my 11 Auto GT, 10/4/10. I saw it on TMS, went right out & poked button twice. It said nothing, & I forgot all about it!! This was like @ 3 AM? I just saw again, retried. Nothing, I then hit brake!! It has it & worked.
I get back inside & see lil further down it says to hit brake. If I waited 2 seconds, I would have re-forgot it.

Not sure I drive so I'll see this, though. Tell you tomorrow!

"Stangaroo", I tried that yesterday and nothing happened or showed, no "sport mode" message or anything. to make sure I did not missunderstand, I double tapped both the "TCS" button and the brake peddal. Do me a favor, just so I know for sure that I have that or don't have that: What are the exact steps that you do in yours to see that happen or message. I know it sounds dumb of me asking that but, with all the talk about it, it's just weird to see that my 07 GT Automatic, does not have that sport mode on it.

This is how it works in my 2012 GT:

If you press the button once, it will say advancetrac off. If you hold the brake, and then press the button twice, it should say sport mode. If you hold the brake and hold the button down for a few seconds (5-6 sec), it will turn everything off (advancetrac and ESC). For each case, the light indicating traction control off should illuminate in your dash. Don't take your foot off the brake until after you've completed whichever sequence.

Hope this helps you.
