Keyless Start

I wanted to know if anyone has or seen a way to take the Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start from the 2012 Fiesta and figured a way to put it in their Mustang? I find it so funny that they offer this in such a base car but not in their sport icon.

Re: Keyless Start

Ya know what else they put on alot of base model cars? The ability for the car to realize that you left the dome light and to shut it off so it doesn't run the battery down overnight.......WTF Ford!?!

end rant.......

Much agreed. Its also lame when there's spots for buttons and your car didn't have that option so you have a fake button or something.

Re: Keyless Start

my wife's edge has the push start, its nice... not sure why the Mustang doesnt have this option... even on a manual its no different you would still have to hold down the clutch~

I think American Muscle has a kit for push button start on 05-09 Mustangs. Not sure if they also have it for the newer models.

Is this what you're looking for?

http://www.americanmuscle.com/sr-mus...tton-0509.html

If it is, you'll probably have to find out if it can work on 11-12 mustangs.

Actually if you leave anything on that drains power (headlights, dome light, etc) and the battery hits a certain level of power it will actually shut everything off to make sure it will still start the next the you get In it.

It's done it to me twice... I'm assuming we all have that feature since mine is a base model.

Yea I know exactly what u mean it's not just the push button start.... But the whole proximity key function where u don't have to stick a key in the ignition... That would've been cool... At least we have the feature that u just give the key a slight turn and the starter completes on it's own w/o u having to hold it

Nope. The system in the Fiesta requires no key and you just get in the car and press start. I'm having my dealer piece one together and see the cost. They said if we want a kit that we need to ask for it many times at the dealer then they'll come out with a kit. They said it works that way. Until the demand is there they don't offer the kits. Can't be hard to create. Just a computer, button, and new key fob.

Have ya all heard about how easy it is to steal a car with keyless entry and start. There was an article in the USA Today a couple months ago that cars with keyless entry and start are very easy to steal. Insurance companies are charging incredibly higher amounts or even not covering cars with keyless entry and start. Maybe that's why ford won't put it on Mustangs. Who wants to steal a focus?

Good point. I don't want a focus or a fiesta. But no I hadn't seen the article. If you run across it could you post a link? Thanks!

Man I'm from KY I can barely put my shoes on much less give you a link to a website. The article was about how those keys constantly emit the code, so alls someone has to do is get within a few feet of you to steal the code. When you walk away they steal your car. I don't think we have to worry about that here in KY, but in major cities it's a big problem. Especially on luxury cars.

It is good to know. Too bad they don't turn off the broadcast after a few minutes. So you'd have to unlock the car or do something with the fob to activate it. But still doesn't help if someone is close to your car waiting to steal it. As if anyone wants to stalk me.
