Re: My 5.0 scares me....

So has Ford officially addressed this #8 issue, other than hearing it second, third hand from the driver who had the problem? Anyone one on ME had this issue yet? Does this affect the 2012 5.0? Is this a bad tune that someone got? I've read one story on another site about this and have seen pictures, they talk about others having this issue, where are they? And yes I have googled it.

Not worried, just curious, a CYA thing.

They have addressed it by issuing a tsb outlining how to detect if a tune was loaded, and if so to void the power train warranty.

The reports on this issue have all been spotty... Most people that have reported the issue fit the profile of trolls.

I would assume that the 12 is affected in the same manner, fwiw.

It may be a bad tune, my suspicion is that the tune was fine and people used cheap gas, incorrect octane, or manually changed parameters of the tune themselves.

Interesting, you wouldn't happen to have a link to this TSB.

Thanks for the info.

I tend to agree with the last paragraph especially so. However, im no expert by any means.

I used to have link for a website that had TSB's for any make/model...if I find it I'll post it here.

---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 PM ----------

I think this was it...

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/

You should be able to find TSB's for any car here. I did a quick search and found multiple ones for the 2011 GT. I didn't see any up yet for the 2012 model year.

Sorry for diverting away from the original thread, but if we bring a list of TSB's to the dealer, are they supposed to fix it under warranty?

Not necessarily. TSB != Recall

A recall is a mandatory fix generally issues by the NHTSA, sometimes voluntarily by an auto manufacturer. These are usually limited to severe safety issues.
A TSB is a set of instructions to fix a specific known issue that MAY be present in a certain subset of vehicles.

At least that's how I understand it. I could be wrong.
