2011 Mustang 5.0 #8 Cylinder Problem

so I finally found forums and posts on this issue and I'm scared to admit that I myself may be experiencing this issue...am I to understand that this will not be covered under the warrantee?

If your car is unmodded, it would have to be covered.

Re: #8 cylinder problem

do you have a random check engine light pop on and off? Try flashing the stock tune back into it and see if it has the same problem of stalling when its idling. Sometimes a tune can be slightly off causing a stalled idle. This happened to me back in the day with a crown victoria police interceptor. Who is your tuner through?

WHat tune do you have. A iffy tune can cause it to stall also. I know my last BBR tune made mine idle horrible, and it would almost die when just sitting there. New tune from some one and it is perfect.

The number 8 issue is a blown engine caused by #8 failing.

How long you had tune in? How long been doing what doing?

Re: #8 cylinder problem

Where are you hearing the rattling coming from? Does it sound like sputtering?

well the car is still running...just had the wierd noise...i'm sure it will get worse if not checked tho. I've had the car tuned since I got it but its had a few different tunes so that probably hasn't helped. its been doing this for like a month and a half

Re: #8 cylinder problem

Some of the 2011s have had a "Tick" issue like the Termis had. This could possibly be what you are hearing, doesnt sound like a #8 issue.

Re: #8 cylinder problem

Stalling will have to do with the tune like said above. Where are you gonna take it to be looked at,Ford? If so,as soon as they see you loaded a aftermarket tune the warranty is done....over.....cashed out.

well the car was working fine with tunes until the day I had it dyno'd. that was the first time it stalled out and has done about 15 times since then...as far as the warrantee, I chose not to pay the extended warrantee since I was going to be modding and tuning so I know there will be no warrantee...oh well

He would probably ask you to do so data logging and send it to him. They all do that.

Re: 2011 Mustang 5.0 #8 Cylinder Problem

I do think that multiple tunes in these is a issue. But should not blow engine though. I have seen few people mention the ticking., Some said noticed after headers and stuff. So who knows.

Did you contact JL yet? I'm interested to know how that turned out as I also have recently purchased a JL tune. Aren't you worried about the dealer seeing all of the tune's you loaded?

so I left it at the dealer today...i just picked it up. they said they couldn't find anything wrong with either the engine or tranny. however my after market exhaust is riding on my rear axle/differential. perhaps that was the source of the rattling :/ I can only hope lol. as far as the stalling I am as we speak re-stocking my ecu and then re-flashing with the original 93 tune I had...hopefully that resolves that issue.
