2012 Mustang GT/CS with Barton Shifter

Hey guys! I'm pretty new to the site, I've been reading the forums for a couple months and finally decided to actually join. Uploaded a few pics of my 2012 mustang. It's actually my 3rd mustang to own. Had a 2007 and a 2010 before this one. (also had a 2010 camaro for a little bit but hated the interior, and missed my mustang terribly. mustang FTW).

I installed my Barton shifter today and man do I love the thing. I ordered a package deal with the shifter, bracket and knob (black) straight off the website. Took about a week to get here. Install wasn't too terribly bad.

I've been debating taking the stripe off and putting the 5.0 emblems on the side, but I can't make up my mind. What do you guys think?

Thanks!
Dustin

Thanks man. The chrome ones look nice but I do like the black ones more I think for my car. The price isn't too bad from American muscle.

I think the black 5.0 badges will look good. I still love the grabber blue. Wish I would have got it. I will trade you ...LOL

I'm not a huge fan of striping but think it looks great with that car / color combo...maybe get the black 5.0 badges and put them on as well...

I thought about adding the badges below but I prefer the factory look. Dont want it to look ricey. And I agree, I normally don't like stripes but this car caught my eye at the dealership.

Re: 2012 Mustang GT/CS with Barton Shifter

Looks great! I say leave the stripe, but I am somewhat of a "purist" when it comes to the "special edition" stangs. I love to see the visual elements of the GT/CS, Boss, Bullitt, etc left alone, under the hood is a whole different story in my book though.

I think y'all convinced me. I'm going to leave the side stripes! The only other cosmetic mod I was debating was the hood scoop from Ford. I just don't want to have to pay a lot for install. And I'm not confident enough to do it myself!

It's just attached with 3M automotive tape... Just gotta line it up.

Oh really? I thought I read that drilling was required?

I don't believe so. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that all the appearance pieces are attached this way.

I had a hood scoop on mine before my new hood and it was attached with some clips when u looked under the hood. I'm thinking the only way it was attached was by the clips which had to be drilled so there were holes...but that was on a 07.

Re: 2012 Mustang GT/CS with Barton Shifter

The one i was looking at was on American Muscle and i just double checked and it does require some screws. If there is an easier install, that would be great. Does anyone have a link or have actually done one themselves?

Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

WOW! That is one expensive piece of plastic! Also, it says that it does come with the 3M Auto Tape ... so the drilling might be optional. Call the guys at AM, they have always been very good about answering my questions.

I just looked at that too. That is expensive. You can almost get a whole new hood for that lol

The only thing it has going for it is it is pre-painted.

Heres the knob. I meant to take more pics of the install of the actual shifter but weather was iffy so I rushed through it. Turned out great though!

It's from Barton. You can but it individually or in a package deal with the shifter. I got the knob (with adapter), shifter and shift bracket for $390.

The font isn't as retro as it is on the Boss. And this one says Barton on each side. But yeah, it is black with white like the Boss knob.
