I need suggestions on lowering my car

I have a 2011 GT coupe. I don't want a rough ride, and really don't want to lower it to much. i have the CS/Boss valance and will have the slitter to be installed this week. Suggestions would be helpful. i am leaning towards the Ford racing pack they sell.

Re: I need suggestions on lowering my car

ford racing makes a couple good sets with that splitter installed it adds a whole new variable to the mix. I have a 1.5 inch drop on the front and back which I do fine with 19 in. rims. I go over speed bumps and everything without dragging. The only reason i know anything about the splittler is a customer review on American muscle.com for the boss splitter, mentioned he had a 1 in drop on the front and back and he was saying you have to watch out for dragging it over speed bumps

Re: I need suggestions on lowering my car

I have 20" wheels ...I don't mind spending the money to keep from losing the ride. The ride now is smooth and i want to keep that. i had a 06 that i dropped a good bit and it was like riding in a wagon. AM has a complete system hat is under new parts for the 11-12's. 1" drove in the front is all i think i want with that splitter installed.

I think you have the right thoughts in mind with the full set I do have a question for you though and that is do you already have the brembo brake package on your stang?

Re: I need suggestions on lowering my car

Well the ford racing one is a little more expensive however you do get the strut brace and new front strut mount upgrades and only a 1 inch lower all the way around. The eibach comes with less but is about 400 - 500 dollars cheaper and lowers 1 1/2 inches on the rear as well that's the break down on both of them. sorry to hear about your back bro

Do you have a preference? And would one void any kind of a warranty?

Re: I need suggestions on lowering my car

if warranty was ever an argument you would have a better shot with installing ford racing, but in the case of suspension you shouldn't ever really have a warranty claim just make sure that whoever you have do the work for you does a front end alignment on it as well things get knocked a little out of wack anytime you are working with suspension so that and with the ford racing kit you get a few extra bells and whistles new strut mounts will be good for your suspension and the front strut mount will help the handling of the car as well so you get a couple bonus features that wracks up about 330 bucks and then the ford name is worth 75 - 80 bucks and that is the value of the whole kit

Re: I need suggestions on lowering my car

no problem good luck and remember get two estimates from 2 different shops to do the install you are only looking at labor costs from here on out so you don't have to worrya bout the quality of parts they use to knock down the price

Do it if u don't have any bumps to worry about go big if u do I have 1.5 in drop front and rear and I don't scrape may effect u if u want to put a front splitter on though. That n the stock rim size is perfect for when the drop tires and body are flush half way down the rim. So the wheels don't look tucked in. Lowering is still my favorite mod. Like I said earlier just make sure u have a front end alignment done after any suspension work

Just the ones in the roads, and nothing major to worry about. No splitter either. I love it, just haven't had time to get it done and I think it makes a Pony look much tougher with it lowered. Do you have the brembo package? My biggest things is the C&C plates, do I need them or not, they will help with the alignment.

With the brembo package you have plates there already so I didn't get the aftermarket ones and I am doing fine the way it was explained to me is to purchase camber plates if you had a racing purpose to them my alignment is perfect after the shop went over it but the plates rotate as ur taking springs out n u never know where to put them at so I dont know if aftermarket ones are easy to align. I am jealous about the lack of bumps because the military feels they need to put them everywhere on base.

I'll have to look at that, I did not notice the plates. LOL yeah since I retired, I try to stay away from the bumps. Although the posts and bases around here aren't too bad. Thanks for the input, what did you go with on springs?

It's hard to see from these pics, I'll take some tomorrow during the day... But the front especially is tucked in about an inch or so, I was disappointed when i saw the results, but the drop came out nice, so I have staggered 20" wheels on the way... I was gonna wait.

These are actually 19x8.5 but it's cool, this beats the ugly gap anyway... Plus the 5 minutes I drove home from the shop I instantly felt the nice tight suspension, I changed the dampers as well.... I haven't driven it since I did the suspension work, I'm waiting for the wheels to come in so I can get the alignment

I love my H&R race springs. Good drop not a rough ride. If remember right it was 1.25 front and 1.75 in the rear.

That's a good rake should be completely flat after that

I actually looked it up and it is a listed as 1.5 front and 1.4 rear. Back was a little more though.

Yes it is. Looks really really good. I have added some rake some in with using LCA relocation brackets.

This is how it is DD now.
Wheels are 15x10 with MT /55/15 DR rear
17x4 fronts with M&H 185/55/17 front runner

On stock 18s size tires and rims looked like this.
