Re: 550 hp

Hmm ... safely is a relative term. I would have to say about 412.

No, at the crank. The stock rating. Past that you really have no "safety." Read around on this forum and some others ... there have been issues tuning these new engines. This is not the 4.6L modular engine that we have been tinkering with for over a decade.

Like I said, safe is a "relative" term. Most people have been OK, but there have been a few issues.

There are lingering transmission problems that we may or may not see a recall for. Do you want to take your car into the dealer for a transmission recall and have them find a tune that voids your warranty? That's a risk you have to decide if you want to take.

A few people have had blown engines off nothing but a CAI and/or Tune. This issue has been discussed in length on her and every other stang forum. I'll let you form your own conclusions on this well discussed topic.

That said, look at most of our sig lines. We don't seem that worried about it, but we also realize that there are risks involved in ANY aftermarket modification and that once you go down that road you are responsible for any repairs that may arise from them.

Re: 550 hp

many have had major engine issues due to the tune was not right or who knows what~ just FYI and most anything you will do requires a tune.

your warranty will be voided if you modify anything for the most part~ you may find a dealer that doesnt care but ... you wont know that until the time comes

Re: 550 hp

How does every one get many have had issues? Every one says they know a guy that had issues with number 8 and then he knew a guy also etc etc. There has been a few actually show up that was confirmed.

If you wnat to keep warranty go with a Ford racing Supercharger. HAve a dealer install it. You only get the warranty with the 525hp kit. The 624hp kit does not come with a warranty.

As far as running Nitrous. You will be fine with 150 shot IF the person who tunes it knows what he is doing. It is all in the tune really.

As far as bolt ons. You can reach roughly 450hp. But you will need full bolt ons ie. Headers LT/Boss intake/Cold air/OR x pipe/ cat back, a dyno tune that will be pretty aggressive and rev the engine to 7800 rpms. This is what I have and I made 464whp on a dyno jet.

Cheapest way to 500whp and the safest is probably go with a Roush TVS 2300 SC. Have not seen one person with issues with them.

Re: 550 hp

doesnt the Roush CAI require a retune? I would check it out you may be unsafe as it is but not sure.

The Roush one does not., The rest do. This is one reason why not to many people have actually used the Roush. Most people seem to have Steeda/JLT then the others.

Also the Steeda tune has been compared with tunes like Lethal/BBR and have showed to give less HP. I have seen it first hand. Same car, same day, same dyno. Steeda tune made about 10whp less then a BBR tune.
