M90 Roush S/C

Hey All:

I have had my 2010 Black GT Premium for about 2.5 years now and really enjoy it. I added all of the basic bolt on's, CAI, Throttle Body, Axelback, Pulleys, and have a tune from Bama...

With all this said, the car is really "quick" but not what I really "want". When I got the car in May of 2009, I was the first in my area to get one and didn't know if the 2011 5.0 was a reality or just talk. AnywayI have been one of those "Should da had a V" (5.0) and really would love to have a 5.0 but I know trade in for my '10 is crap...

With all this said...

I am thinking about dropping a M90 Roush S/C into my car, and call it a day. I know I can get other/more powerful S/C for the car but I think 435hp is more than enough.

My question to you guys/gals who has a M90, how do you like it, and what do you like about the charger? With my current configuration, I am around 310-315hp ( to the rear) and really like that the idea of having added "getty up"...

I asked the Misses if I could get a 2013 GT 500 since this one will be paid off, and she said no problem

But for now, I want the extra go, and would love to hear from you guys/gals!

Thanks for letting me ramble, and I enjoy reading all of your post!

Ben

Re: M90 Roush S/C

I would look into a twin screw style blower (whipple, kenne bell) vs the root style roush blower... you will not only make more power but it will generate less heat and just work better.

For the money you are going to invest to get just a bit over 400hp you should considering upgrading to a 2011 GT though~

the 2010 is capable of making 450-480rwhp~ and being safe, thats probably 50 more rwhp than a fully bolt on 5.0 GT~ but the GT can then have a blower put on it of course~

The blower and setup will probably run you 6k, that 6k would go a long way on a 5.0 and you get resale value from that, 6k invested in your car wont that much down the road and might hurt resale-ability

All are options just consider them all and see what works for you

Re: M90 Roush S/C

I see what you mean, I though about resale of the car, and why invest anymore into it when I am going to upgrade anyway...

I just wanted to see what others thought about thier S/C in their cars and if the "fun" factor was worth it...

Thanks,

Ben

Re: M90 Roush S/C

kinda thinkin the same as you, although my 2010 gt is brand new a month ago. got a great deal on it and did have the chance to buy a 5.0 but the price difference for the 10 gt was quite large (nearly $10,000). I am very happy with the 10 but would like to install a supercharger and the roush is on my list. The ford joint will install this so as to not void the warrentee. Just driving around town and on the freeway there is not that huge of a differance in between the 10 gt and 5.0, for sure the 5.0 is quicker but not as much as I expected, making the great deal on the 10 that much more appealing. I think a blown 2010 gt roush m90 or other will likely be a little quicker than the stock 5.0. The options the ford dealership is giving me is the roush or the ford racing (whipple) supper chargers, not much different in price and hp. I am leaning towards the roush. Let us know what you decide.

Re: M90 Roush S/C

Merv;

Thanks for your input! I test drove the '11 a few months back, and like you was surprised that there wasn't that much difference in power! Plus I don't know about you, but I found shifting the six speed really ackward! I like the 4.6 five speed shifter alot. I even went to Rocky Mount, NC to Capital Ford and test drove a used Roush 427R (2010) model. I live about 4.5 hours from Capital Ford, and ALMOST purchased the car, but my wife said I could get the 2013 GT 500, so I think I will wait.

I wish there was a dealer in my area (Metro DC/Baltimore) who would install the M90 and I could make payments on it! LOL

Anyway, I do like my car, and I will let you which way I am going with this...

What do you guys think about the "Saleen" SuperCharger? Hey Spector V is the Saleen a Roots style or a Twin Screw type SuperCharger?? I like it because I believe it will work with my Steeda Intake.

Kato, to answer your question, twin-screw!
"2005-2006-2007-2008-2009 Mustang GT Saleen Supercharger Kit .

The Saleen Series VI Supercharger is the latest in sleek Saleen supercharger design for manual or automatic 2005-2009 GT Mustangs.

The Series VI features a TwinScrew design that can push up to 2300cc of air per rotation which means the supercharger can turn slower while maintaining optimum airflow and can boost the 4.6L V8's engine power up to 475 horsepower and generate up to 450lbs/ft of torque. "

Re: M90 Roush S/C

I dont know if the Saleen is a roots or twin screw... probably roots.

Ford Racing deals in Whipple, so look that route it will also maintain warranty... but if you ONLY get 435hp for 7-8k invested... that sucks.

Ive had friends that let a ford dealer install their supecharges and they had MAJOR tune issues... thats a big thing the tune will be a stupid probably not 100% be optimial... so you will have to live with that. If you get it checked on a dyno and its lean/rich etc not sure how you would even be able to fix it.

SpectorV, Dru said it was a twinscrew, and around 475HP, and since Saleen and Ford is not far apart, that should not be a big proble. As far as Tune, I have a company "Mustang Specialties" that will handle any Tuning that I need done. So I think I'm good and yes I know that Saleen will probably be $$$, but ong as it's good.
