6spd MT question

At work today we had another 5.0 6spd mt stang.. And when I pulled it in I noticed the shift is a lot smoother on his car and I know for a fact it's stock bc i know the guy.. I just pulled it in and sat at idle and ran through all the gears.. Felt a lot smoother through all the gears.. As i've said b4 this is the first manual car that I've actually owned.. So basically is there something wrong w mine? Like synchronizer? Or is this what people are referring to when they are talkin about their transmission being "notchy"? Could I have the trans. Issue that a lot of 5.0s have had? Any help is appreciated!

Also really hard to get in reverse when I first start it up in the morning.. And if definitely pushing down on the shifter to disengage the reverse lock out..

Re: 6spd MT question

You seem you have the "notchy" tranny that people talk about. HAs he changed his fluid in his. And the hard shift in the morning is the fluid as well.

Strano Performance Parts - Part Details

What I run in mine. It works great. Got rid of the codl stuff in teh morning and isn't notchy either. Combined with the Barton Shifter. Also not sure you are tracking but Steeda has a bracket out now also.

Strano Performance Parts - Part Details

Also the have the shifter for 224.

Anyway about the whole kit with Red line MT fluid.

Thanks for the helpful links. I have a plan to get the Barton, and per your good experience-I guess I will also be doing a tranny flush, and put the 'good stuff' back in, at the same time!

No he hasnt changed his fluid.. And yes I did notice that steeda has a bracket out now.. Would it prolly be the exact same thing as the Barton bracket? So prolly change out my fluid and when I get a shifter should take care of it? Think ford would change the fluid under warranty if I complain about it?

You would think it would be the same as the Barton one. It is new so I haven't seen no one to say yes or no.

There is a Ford TSB out also. They use a little thicker fluid as well. It is better then what is in it stock but not as good as the red line. YOu take your car to ford and they should change the fluid for you. I am looking for the TSB now. They have a few out for these trannies

Is this related to the miss that everyone talks about around 2100-2300rpms? Or totally separate issue all together?
