| Exhaust Question
I've had my 2012 GT for about a week now. I am look for some suggestions for an axel back exhaust with excellent sound, what do you all recommend. I have been eyeing the SLP Loudmouth and am looking for some feedback (Pro and Cons)?

Also what are other future mods? The rest the exhaust can change the way the axle back sounds. To loud/drone.

Also if plan on spending 6-7 hundred on axle backs why not get a cat back exhaust?

Don't know about the slp loud mouths but just put my roush axlebacks on and I get complements and turn heads everywhere I go. Not because it's too loud but cuz it sounds great! Hearing them on YouTube vids do not do them justice they sound so much better in person! They are very throaty and loud at wot but perfect on everyday take off. Just a suggestion

I had a the same question and did a lot of the same research. I was set on getting the Borla, until hearing them installed. So it was back to research. In the end I decided to take a chance on the Roush Performance axel backs. They were inexpensive enough to justify taking them off if I didn't just love the sound. I've had them on for about 5k miles now and really like the sound. No drone at highway speeds. I'm asked frequently what I have and told that it sounds awesome. All in all I'm very happy with my choice and don't think I'll bother with Borla.

Actually no, the Borla was installed on some one else's vehicle...I got lucky in that I had a chance to check out an installed set before I purchased my exhaust. Sorry for not clarifying.

I've read where some have suggested that Roush is re-badged Borla. But nothing specifically stating that's the case. My spec sheet was Roush and parts stamped with Roush logo and mfg part numbers. But interesting point to look into.

I can't speak for anyone else, but me personally not looking for who makes them, but a sound. I do want a good quality exhaust system, but the sound is more important to me then who makes it!!!!

I'm happy with the choice I made. The next person, regardless of manufacturer, needs to be happy at the end of the day with the way it sounds to them.

The roush are a great axleback inexpensive and the fit and finish is great too. I have them on my car and turn heads and get complements everywhere I go. Once I put my headers and o/r x pipe on I will post a video for everybody to hear. |

My 427R came with Roush axle-backs, they sound good and really turn heads... but I think they have a slight drone, which is tolerable. I had some Cherry Bombs that droned so loud it was very irritating on the highway...

My '01 had flowmaster with turn downs (dumps) and the drone was unbearable; so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. But I often enjoyed the loud aspect of it; setting off overly sensitive car alarms within 25 feet. |

I have heard the Borla ATAK's in person and they sound awesome! Very pricey though. I also heard the GT500 mufflers in person without the resonators and also sounds very nice and 1/3 of the price of the Borla's
I will probably get the gt500's for mine but will look into the Roush also

I will probably get the gt500's for mine but will look into the Roush also | I ha e the roush and their great. I like to go through the tunnel where I live in third and get on it. It gets so loud in the tunnel it's ridiculous. But no drone when at highway speeds. Might have a lil drone after the headers and x pipe, but I'm not going to know for sure till I have them installed. ---------- Post added at 04:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:34 AM ---------- Quote: |
