Question 6 spd. transmission in Mustang GT made in China

Have they addressed the problem with this transmission yet? Or will switching to a synthetic transmission fluid like Amsoil or Redline solve the problem

Nothing solid yet. There are tons of threads all over the web about this but not a solid solution as of yet.

is it better at this time to get the automatic transmission? Is it a 6 spd auto? What are the differences betweent the manual and auto in power.

So far it seems the auto is more reliable out of the two. The auto is a six speed as well.

Re: 6 spd. transmission in Mustang GT made in China

its not really happening all that often in either transmission though, only a few people have had problems and a lot of people that feel slight notchiness in the shifting resolve it through replacement of the shifter with a short shifter and a new bracket.

Re: 6 spd. transmission in Mustang GT made in China

The TSB for it says to switch from the full synthetic to a dual clutch transmission fluid. I've had the shifting problem only when the engine hasn't warmed up. Anyone switched fluids yet and noticed a difference?

Im planning to have my transmission flushed and filled with Royal Purple sometime in the near future. I haven't noticed many problems other than occasional problems hitting 5th from 4th.

First tranny went out.

New tranny has been perfect. Running Redline fluid in it. Also have Barton short throw with bracket.

The auto is way stronger. Guys have been in the 9's with stock autos. They are also holding more power. Remember the stock tranny is only rated at 383wtq.

There is also another solution if you want to keep a manual but want big power.

Surprisingly no problems with my 6SMT maybe slightly notchy in 1st and 2nd but nothing really worth mentioning. Do u thing full bolt on and nitrous kit spraying 100 shot is putting to much stress on the manual tranny?

Do a clutch you will be fine. Either is really good with the oils.

Re: 6 spd. transmission in Mustang GT made in China

It must be remembered, that those 'planning on making big power', 'heading to the dragstrip', would want to contemplate the tranny switch switch. (The Tremec looks bada$$!) I have had little difficulty with my Getrag 6speed. If you do favor a manual transmission, the fact that the AT, 'is making better power'/'holding together, better', is pretty much, a moot point..if you are not upgrading/racing-IMHO.

Re: 6 spd. transmission in Mustang GT made in China

Sean Kelley just went 9.2@151 with his stock suspension stock tranny 2012 Auto 5.0. He has trapped the highest out any mustang 5.0 yet. He also plans on being the fastest next weekend. Made a few tweaks and will shooting for an 8 sec pass to beat Evolutions 5.0 that went 8's. He has threads on S197 and Modularfords where he called out JPC/BBR/Evo to run next weekend at Ford Fever.

On that Note BBR claims the highest HP 5.0 in the country. 953whp with a built block and turbo in a manual car. Yet they have no track passes on it. It broke a drive shaft before the could run it. It has also been said that Sean Kelley makes over 1000whp now and Evolution made over 1000whp with there 8 sec car.

Nope. Sean used to have a Kona blue. Now he has a Grabber blue 2012. You are thinking his runs high 9's and his was built by Evolution. I think his name is Chris if remember right.

His old car. His new one is faster. LOL

I had the dual clutch fluid put in a couple days ago and it seems to have improved shifting. Not perfect but noticeably better.

Whoa, this thread is ALIIIIIIVE again.

I'll be doing the fluid change myself this winter, I believe it's something to the tune of 2.7 or 2.8 quarts. Once I get it done, I'll report back, but I won't have any driving impressions until things thaw out...

Did you get it changed over? I do notice a difference when its cold vs warm. Ordered the Barton braket today, sounds like it will help with the slop........

Just doing the bracket for now, 2 bills would have been a great deal though!
