I everyone I just purchased my 2011 grabber blue gt! I never thought I would be an owner of a mustang but I fell in love with the new body style along with the new 5.0. I was so impressed with it when I test drove it I had to have it. First mod to come is exhaust.. Thinking of gt500 axle back, I like to keep it clean and not too loud.. Unfortunately there's not many around where I live to compare sounds...

Welcome love the grabber as I have the same color. The gt500 axle-backs are good mufflers sound good not to loud. If u want to hear some different types search YouTube there are plenty of vids to check out. Hushpowers, Borla, bassani, roush, slp, pypes and more. I personally have the roush inexpensive and sound great also no drone at cruzin speeds. They do get a lil loud at wide open throttle but not bad. IMO I would recommend the roush. Search through YouTube and checkout the different tones then decide what u like best. Pics of my blue beast

YouTube is great place to start. But please don't listen through laptop speakers, they just don't do it justice.

Where in FL are you?

The GT500 axle backs will add a nice sound. I posted a video of them and the off road H pipe that sound very very good.

Re: New member

Welcome! I used to have a '10 GT in Grabber Blue and loved the color. When I traded in for an '11 I decided to switch colors. I miss the blue, but I love the 5.0.

Exhaust is a great mod to start with, but do some thinking before you buy some axlebacks. What you buy now may not fit into your long-term plans and cause you to have to replace them. If you plan on putting in an off-road X or H pipe, or adding long tube headers, than the GT500 is a great choice. If you don't see yourself doing any of that you might want to consider something more aggressive, since the GT500s will still be pretty quiet. I'll post some videos of mine from right after I installed it below.

Also, make sure that you put a cold air intake and tune on your wish-list. This is the best bang for your buck mod and will really wake your car up. There are many vendors (Lethal, Blow By Racing, American Muscle/Bama, Lund) and twice as many opinions. Do a search or browse through the tech threads but the general consensus is that the American Muscle tunes are on the conservative/safe side while the BBR tunes is on the other end of the spectrum (very aggressive). The others are somewhere in between, but most are closer to the aggressive side. The Steeda tune is probably the only one I would recommend you stay away from.

Thanks for your input.. I would love the complete exhaust but it is very pricey even though it's well worth it the car alone in already expensive. The rousch sounds great.. And the Lund ghost cam tune sounds pretty crazy as well... So many options for this car it's crazy!!

Great looking car man! That blue is awesome. I can relate with your level of excitement I just picked up my 5.0 last Sunday (10/9/11). It's a white GT premium with a few extras... These new 5.0's are amazing and good luck with your exhaust!

welcome, research fully exhaust, but axle backs wont really increase hp much, but they can all alter sound differently

I'm not really looking for huge hp gains.. I'm pretty satisfied with stock hp.. Keep in mind I'm coming from previously owning civic si and an s2000 so........ Just want a nice throaty sound and slightly larger tips

Then the Roush would be a good choice for you. American Muscle has a good price on them.
