horsepower ideas

I know the basics with older 302s but what can be done to the new 5.0 that will boost HP and torque. I'm talking simple. No blowers. No exhaust upgrades. Simple stuff for now

Re: horsepower ideas

tune is the biggest thing. Combined with a cold air like JLT/STEEDA/C&L you will see about 35whp gains. After that Boss intake.

Tune as in chip mode? Eh. Idk if that will void the warranty. This thing is fresh. Like less than 700miles fresh. I just can't get over the new 5.0 go go fomoco

Re: horsepower ideas

Tune voids warranty. But it is the biggest gains for teh price. Not to mention every mod you do to gain power will need a tune. Only other option is a whipple 525hp kit installed by the dealer.

I had about 200 miles on my car when tune went on. 2400 when full bolt ons went on. And about 5800 and now supercharger is going on. I have had the car a year in a week.

Idk if wipple is the way to go as they only provide about 30-40% HP increase. Vortec promises 50-65%

Agree. Hence why I buoght the Paxton which is same as the Vortech just bigger head unit and will make more power with out have to get new one.

BUT! Whipple will retain factory warranty if you order the 525hp kit and have a ford dealer install it. He mention wanted to keep warranty.

I agree. On both. If I was worried about warranty I would not mod the car at all. That is how I see it. But since I give to SH&TS! about it. I say give me power. Worse is I blow the engine and then I order a RGR 5.0 Short block with forged internals and 10:1 compression and turn the boost up to about 18.

That's right, that's what aftermarket parts are for!

Yes warranty is important. I can put a new pully on the wipple and increase pressure though. Right? Also. Anyone know anything about gforce mod chips?

Lol. I don't need 500hp. Just a little more to play with. That's all

G-force mod chips is a joke.Save your money! If you looking for that type mod just get a good tune, but, back to the warranty issue. You have a mod friendly dealer you should be ok

There is no chips. It is a tune for the PCM.

^+1 There is no chip to do.Go on a site like i.e ..American Muscle or your choice and look at the tune options. Many types and ways. The ones you will see are canned tunes pretty much. You get serious on mods get a custom tune at a performance shop.Nothing wrong with a tune you may see on there site i.e SCT/3.You would likely want to get a CAI to go along with it to see more results.A point to start as for modding. As for the dealer offering mods.....Could get pricey, but help your retain warranty.Personally not into dealer modding.Have to rob a bank.

See the weird thing is. I am mechanicly inclined. Can work on just about anything. Can mod just about anything. But even though I love mustangs. I just don't know that much about them. Strange huh
