I bought a 2011 California Special 6sp. If I had to do it again I probly go for base auto. I love my car but I really didn't need leather and all the other options.

If u go base you have to get a set of wheels. Can't stand most stock rims.

Having the Sync option on the premium was worth every penny to me!

Re: Undecided

It all depends on what you want to do with the car. If plan on drag racing or tracking the car buy a base. As you will want it as light as possible.

If want to show it off and look good. Maybe do a few mods then but the top line you ca afford.

As far as wheels. I think all the stock wheels are ugly.

---------- Post added at 06:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:16 PM ----------

I didn't care about sync. As I planned on drag racing and what not with mine. iphone i can talk to it also so it all works out.

Re: Undecided

I like the redundent controls on the wheel with premium. The accents in the trim with leather. You can get a racing stripe in the leather plus the sync.Brembo wheel is the only decent stock wheel. But really like said just depends on what you are after in a car.remote seats are nice....the list goes on.

U gotta go at least low end premium... The mycolor feature is eye candy and makes your car stand out from the rest... The base model interior is ugly in comparison, the wheels dont matter cuz most likely your gonna change them to whatever u want...

Re: Undecided

E.Vaughn done mine on the G8 and it is absolutely high quality work. Will Balance perfect!Blows a balancers mind when they see it.He does it with one seam.Only couple guys around the country who can do this right. It's pricey though.300.00 a wheel. You got to do all the shipping and **** too.It gets expensive but I highly recommend him.He may have come down or you can talk to him for better price but not sure. You got Tim in Jersey but he uses 2 seams from all I here and cost as much

Knowing me I'll want to track the car but this will be my dd for awhile and I do like the my color and I was thinking about a low end premium package and with any incentives and my z plan pricing I should be able to get it right around a base model

A base model with zero options can be bought around 26-27k. Which leaves a lot of room for mods. Almost everything ford offers can be added at a cheaper price if u install urself. But on the other hand if it comes with the car then it has a warranty. I went with the base because I knew I would change a lot. No point in paying for something that ur going to take out.

Edit: I didn't mean adding ford parts, i meant going aftermarket.

After you replace everything in your mustang. Ford will come out with a new mustang GT with 100 more horses stock and then you'll want to trade it in for the new one. At least that what happen to me. I have a 07 black California Special had almost had everything done to it. A year later the coyote motor came. Of course I had to have it. All that money and time gone.

---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ----------

I'll end up doing the same thing to this one too.

Hell in 2007 they were already talking about a redesign and possible new motor I would have waited right now who knows what they'll do but by the time the new one comes on I'll have my career started and be able to buy on again

I bought my 07 in december of 2006. If there was talk of a redesign I didn't here about it. It was a also a huge jump in all aspects from the 4.6 to that awesome new 5.0 and 6 speed tranny to top it off. Ford did their homework.

Yes they certainly did do their homework but idk base sounds nice cause then I can do what I want but I do like leather and hate cloth seats. I love the mycolor feature but don't really care for sync mine never worked right in my 09 ford focus ses

I guess the only thing to do is shop around. Winters right around the corner it might be hard to find a stang or at least the one you want. Dealership don't order too Many in winter.

My 2011 has the My Color option. I'v played with one time. The only thing I changed were my dash lights from regular to red. Not big on changing the colors. It's a cool option but I don't need it or use it. My friends on the other hand mess with their colors all the time.

Re: Undecided

Having been in that boat of whether to get this or that on a car.... if you think you might like the option, GET IT. Nothing worse than making payments on a car that you dont enjoy 100%. ALSO.... options resell your car in the event you end up selling it down the road. I learned that with my Challenger, went cheap...had to sell it cheaper and it hurt.

Well first lesson is never worry about resale cuz u will always lose money. I enjoy working on my car and making it "my car" which is why I bought the base but many people aren't that way.

I suppose you are right... In the USA. Here I have to get the options I want from the factory because there is no Autozone or Pep boys here for me to get AM parts. I had a German offer me 10k more for the car than I paid for it, so the market for Mustangs here is different than back home.

After I am done Ford coming out with a new 100hp more engine will not effect me. Once I am done I will have a 900whp monster. Fully built engine custom everything basically. It will be the car that I bring out only on nice days. My DD will be something that is fast already like a newer Z06 or GT500. WHich they will be my slow car.
