Ford Sync

Question. When I first bought my stang I could plug my iPhone into the USB port in the center console and play my music through the speakers. Now it won't work through the speaker. Anybody know why it won't work now.

I guess I will play with the setting tomorrow. I wonder if I updated my phone if that might be the problem. I can't remember last time I updated it.

This happened to me but only with my ipod. What you have to do is pull the fuse for SYNC. Pull it and leave it out for about 30 secs and replace. I did that and everything worked fine, of course you gotta pair your phone again. If I remember correctly its fuse #3

On your iPhone touch your screen, make sure the sound is coming out of "sync" not Bluetooth or speakerphone .... Your Bluetooth might be taking over, it's nothing to do with the car settings...

All Ford Sync in the Mustang is wireless...go to phone, add new device, and then just reSync your phone with your car if you're having trouble...

I change operating systems in my cell phone a few times a week, everytime I do it have to resync with my car, takes 20 seconds tops...

I'v tried re-syncing the phone and it still does not work. If I remember correctly when the iPod app is running a white screen cones up and says something about not being able to access my library or some thing like that.

Is the iPod playing but silent? I'm sure it's your Bluetooth taking over the USB

No it just goes to that screen that says can't access library and won't let me view any music till I pull the USB out. As soon as I unplug the USB then I can access my library.

For the best audio use the USB cable. Make sure that at the bottom of your iPod screen you click on the little box, and select DOCK CONNECTOR, then on the media screen, choose USB as your source. Once sync finds your music, just go to Library, or use the voice search option.

I had the same problem with the sync on my F150 about 6 months ago and I told my service writer when I took it in for service. Idk what they did but it's worked ever since.

Re: Ford Sync

I have problems every time I start the car ... here is what I usually do.

1. Start with the car off
2. Plug the iPod/iPhone in to the USB cable
3. Start the car
4. Press the voice command and say "USB" - it will switch but nothing will play
5. Unplug the device from USB - audio should now start playing through bluetooth
6. Plug the device back in to the USB cable
7. Press the voice button and say "USB" - it should now switch to USB and start playing

Bottom line, SYNC is a complete toolbag piece of ****. I had this exact same issue in my '10 with an Android device, a new car and a new phone later the **** still sucks. The underlying issue is that when you turn the car on it connects via USB and Bluetooth. There is no way to tell SYNC to only use bluetooth for Services and Phone Calls, it's ON of OFF. It seems to me that the easy fix would be to allow us to disable Bluetooth streaming audio.

Has anyone figured out how to bypass the safety on the Sync DVD/Nav? I wanna watch movies in motion. I think it has something to do with the emergency brake. My buddy has a Lexus ISF and he just spliced some wires.

Re: Ford Sync

There's a cheaper way to do it. It's a single wire that needs to be grounded and it tricks the system into thinking the car is in park. No, I don't know what wire it is. You local car audio shop should be able to hook you up, or google it.

Re: Ford Sync

touch screen or not, your iphone will connect via bluetooth. just tell the lady bluetooth music and you should be good to go. The only bad thing is you can't request songs etc. It uses the itunes on your iphone like the car uses the iphone.

I have found that If no music is playing in usb then the phone is on Bluetooth. go to iPhone start Music app, then in lower right is a box with triangle press it and select dock connector.

Have you tried starting the car first and the. plugging in the iPhone?

Yes, that is typically what confuses it in the first place. When you turn the car on first it connects to bluetooth and starts playing audio, even if that source is not selected.
