Re: Difference between 11 and 12 GT

Sorry for bringing it up..lol. I will end this here because I saw how heated these discussions became on the M3 forums.

Simple fact is I am in a Mustang, so you know where my loyalty lies

peace

You know there is always someone faster than your car no matter what you do to it. But my loyalty definitely lies with ford all the way even if there not making the fastest car out there I'm still a FORD MAN

I love the camaro and challenger. They help remind me how fast the 5.0 really is

Haha in all honesty I wanted a challenger since its concept popped up then when I was about to buy one the 5.0 came out and that was honestly a game changer

Exactly.......... except I never was a fan of the Camaro. If the choice would have been Camaro/ challenger or M3... would have kept the M3. I sold my Challenger for the M3. Then the Five OH came out and there was no dilemma... I was SOLD before I even drove one.

Mess with a new SRT8 392 and you might not like your 5.0 any more. They have been running constant low 12's from the factory. On dig race its the 5.0 with a slight advantage with normal street tires on a street till about the 1/4 mile mark. Then the Challengers raw power takes over and he would come around you. On a roll where its weight don't hurt it as much stock vs stock its the challengers advantage.

Definitely not worth that marginal "possible" advantage for the price tag and mine is a daily driver... Don't even want to know what the 6.4 averages for mpg... I average 25 on the highway at about 85ish when I drive from Livermore to Chico (3 hours)... Can the chally do that?

Re: Difference between 11 and 12 GT

I know the R/t can get a little squirrly off the line, but it actually handled pretty good at speed on the autobahn. The Challengers biggest enemy is weight.

What are you talking about? You know there is magazines that said the 5.0 will only run 13.2 right.

Totally agree. People have ran bone stock over and over to low 12's with the SRT8. Some higher ones also. As above few magazines said the 5.0 was a 129.-13.2 car. I never trust the magazines. NEVER!

You have to look at what you get for the price difference really. The challenger is a better car inside and out the a 5.0. Performance wise the are pretty even and a lot will be on the driver. But they are just nicer then a loaded 5.0. Plain and simple. Plus they have a real back seat you can use. I thought a buddies wife was crazy when she traded her 2010 GT500 in on a Challenger. But she did to have a back seat. I got in a challenger and understood why.

For a drag car I would choose the 5.0 all day. Hence why I have one. LOL But for a every day car that is super nice that still has the get up and go. SRT8.

Re: Difference between 11 and 12 GT

^^^ The reason I sold my Challenger is that I have 3 kids, 2 are with me at any given time. Yes there is a back seat but there is one safety feature that SUCKS. There is no automatic seatback forward lever on the driverside. In the event that I was to get broadsided on the passenger side, no one is getting out of the backseat in a hurry, which could be fatal if the car was aflame.... Keep that in mind if you decide to switch over and you have kids.

Wow! I love how we get off topic here! All I have to say is I'd love to have a garage like Jay Leno. I just love all cars for the most part. I'm more partial to Ford, but I've only met a few cars I don't like. It's the one thing, I could honestly hoard if I ever have the means to do so.
