Is there any advantage to getting a cheap used one or is it smarter to cough up the money to get a new one?

*title was supposed to say USED, sorry

No u can "marry" it to either 3 or 5 VINs. Just make sure it's unlocked.

If he sells it to u and no longer has the car it's locked to then u will have to pay sct to unlock it which I believe is $150

Well I got a c&l cai plus Sct(locked) and a few billet under hood dress up pieces for $225 so I think I still got a good deal even if I still got to kick out $150

Re: Uses Sct tuner

a used unit will work fine IF its unlocked so you can upload your tunes to it AND put them on your car. THAT Is the key, if you have to pay to unlock it... might as well buy another one.

If you want the free tunes from bama etc you may have to buy their tuner (not sure on that)

So if the tuner is unlocked, the there is pretty much no difference between a new one and a used?
