You could always do a grabber blue to accent the exterior, but grey would look nice too.

Re: Suede seat inserts

I'd keep it dark and stick with black or gray.

Re: Suede seat inserts

suede is nice but not as durable as some other fabrics, i cant remember what the 03/04 cobra seat inserts are made of (starts with an A) but its more durable for example.

the issue is it will develop wear patterns over time~

Everything will develop wear patterns over time.. The material on the 03-04 cobras that your referring to looks and feels like suede doesn't it?

Re: Suede seat inserts

Alcantara, would be really cool, and I would stick with black-if you go this route. The lighter gray, in the older Cobras, looked dingy, in time. When SVT went to the charcoal color insert-no dingy, and it stayed looking nice. So-charcoal alcantara, inserts, on the seats, and headrests..

That's kinda what I'm thinking.. Should I do the perforated or smooth?

Re: Suede seat inserts

Hi all, I had the Alcantara suede inserts done 7 months ago. Esay to keep clean, for me easier than the leather. got rid of all the perferated stuff and had it all doulble stiched. Italian "Alcantara" is the brand name which is one of the best made, its used in the high end euorpean cars including Porsche. Cool in the summer & warm in the winter. Took about 3 yards of material expensive at $120 a yard. The Alcantar on the door panels is "Alcantara Panel" which has no backing. The Alcantara on the seats has a thick backing but also was sewn to 1/2 " foam for cush and no more sliding around. Door panel Alcantara swen to 1/4 " foam. Many colors to choose from, I choose grey to contrast the interior brushed aluminum and chrome. Many different shades of grey & black avalible. Also had ford oem 5.0 emblems "Black chromed". Waiting for warmer weather to put them on. Hope the pics are ok, first time posting.

I was going to hand sow red into mine, decided to stick with a murdered interior and just buy black suede racing seats, much easier! If they had a choice of color to match the exterior of your car, that would be pretty sweet, otherwise black would look nice, or maybe a white insert? Smooth would look best, headrests would be unique too
But watch out, that stuff is freaking expensive, so be ready to seriously pay!!

What seats are you getting? I've been planning on doing the same ... looked at the Recaros and then realized I can't afford them. I've been thinking about the Corbeau FX1 seats (I want a fixed back with good lateral support more than the ability to recline the seat).

Corbeau FX1 Pro Mustang Racing Seat - Black (79-12 All) 29501P - Free Shipping! (Yes there are better prices to be had, just linked for info).

AM ships for free and they price match. I would show them the price on AndysAutoSport (I think $20-30 cheaper) and see if they will still match it. With free shipping it's a hell of a deal!

Thought they just included the shipping in the final price? They also don't have the black suede I want to match the suede console I'm doing, oh well that probably won't be for another couple months till I get them

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Free Shipping = included in the price. Nothing is free but if shipping is rolled into the price and the price is less than somewhere else with the added shipping ... it's still cheaper ... right?

What Sparcos are you looking at and where are you getting them from?

I don't have them on hand right now, I'm just looking for a cheap black suede racing seats with 5 point belts that can recline and all
Probably eBay or a local shop if I can find one that will order for me

Reclining racing seats are EXPENSIVE. I also think that you lose a bit of lateral support with the ability to recline. Think about what part of your body is always sliding out of the seat, and where on the seat it's sliding to. Reclining racing seats don't seem to add much in that area. Just my 2c though ....

True true, I'm just worried they won't fit my body well as a 5'7 girl you know? Well see, I'm sure it will though

Re: Suede seat inserts

You can get "Alcantara" brand at Gulf Fabrics in Florida. Also your local upholstery shops and their distributors will be able to get it.
