Subwoofers V6 or GT

I was wondering if anyone has put subwoofers in their 2010+ mustang. I really dont want to put them in my trunk, has anyone tried to put them somewhere else? dont get me wrong I LOVE the sound of my car, there is nothing like a 3rd gear pull up a steep hill, but i also love music, LOUD music. Im pretty sure a lot of you guys love loud music too seeing as we have loud cars. budget isnt really an issue, i really just want one really good 10" sub that can really thump.

There is no where to really put a 10" sub other than the trunk. I'm not sure if there are the pre-fabricated enclosures such as those made by JL Audio that fit in the side of the trunk. They are nice. If budget isnt a concern, I would have a fiberglass enclosure made that fits in the area for the spare tire. I had a setup like that on my 94 cobra. Had two 10's and it hit like a crazy. Of course there was no spare anymore. Your best bet is a custom enclosure.

Jl audio does make those enclosures. They are pretty pricy but since u said it wasn't an issue I think that would be cool. I've seen them on their website

The reason I don't want them in the trunk is I had a friend with a new camaro and he had one 12" sub in the trunk and every time he drove by it sounded like the back of his car was falling apart because it would rattle so loud. I was thinking of making a little box the would sit in the driver side back seat. 1 I hardly ever use the back seat and 2 If I needed the extra seat I would just unplug it and stick the sub in the trunk. I figured I could make some strap system to hold in place during "spirited driving".

Well if your worried about rattling they sell a type of material called dynamat. It sticks on to metal and keeps it from vibrating and also locks in the sound really good. If you wanted to put a sub in side I think it would be best for u to get a ported box..but that kinda takes some knowledge to make..or else it would sound like crap. But IMO a sun sounds best in the trunk of a car..and if u say money isn't a factor then take it to a good audio place. Tell them exactly what u want and exactly how u want it. Money talks. Lol.

Here are some pics of what i had done. JL12W6, custom install and entire trunk Dynomatted. Yes it all did add weight, taakes away some of your speed, but since i don't race mine, and i DO love Loud music, i did this right after i got the car. I can still get to my spare tire if needed, and it sounds REAL GOOD...

Re: Subwoofers V6 or GT

looks really good. i was going to do a non ported box because i like more of a crisp thump. really like the sunk in amp, it looks really clean.

Re: Subwoofers V6 or GT

I am having the same thing done on my 2011 the week. I purchased the JL sub enclosure that fit my previous 2006 Vert Mustang...since it would not fit correctly in the 11 coupe..i decided to have a custom box made for it. I will post some pictures when it's finished.
