What are you tuning for? Bolt-ons, blower, etc...
For bolt-ons, a tune from a vendor (American Muscle, Lethal, etc...) should work fine. Otherwise, get it tuned by a shop with a dyno. Where are you located? Some people here can probably give you a list of good shops.

Yes. As far as I know, that is one of the most commonly used tuners. For those mods, I would think that a tune from an online vendor would be fine (someone correct me if I'm wrong). American muscle has a deal where you get free tunes for life when you buy a tuner.

---------- Post added at 11:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------

I'm assuming you have a 2011-2012 5.0...Idk what the gains are for a 2010.

American muscles bama tunes are perfect. You might gain 20hp peak but it will also help out all over the rev range too. Its cheap and easy and will make a difference when driving. I got mine just to sharpen up throttle response.

Re: good tune

SCT tuner is great, you can get a mailed or canned tune as they call it from a variety of shops but the BEST option is a dyno tune.

Agreed. Bama sells the handhelds for a very reasonable price and will update your tune for free as you add mods. It's a great option while you're stacking bolt-ons and saves a ton rather than getting retuned on the dyno every time you add/remove something. You can also do datalogging from the SCT and send the logs back to Bama to have them adjust anything if necessary.

You can also go with Lethal/LRS/Evo(all Lund tunes) or BBR (BlowByRacing). Their tunes are all a bit more aggressive than the Bama tunes, but I believe all of them require a fee to update the tune for mods (especially if you don't buy the mod from them). I'm not saying any tuner is "better" than the other, but they all have pros and cons. There has been much discussion about all of them on this and other forums, a little digging and searching will give you the answers you need.

I'm happy with my Bama 93 race tune from American muscle.. Plan to get all my mods done and then get a tune from lethal or EVO so I don't have to pay to get it retuned repeatedly as I slowly add mods.. Plus there is a #8 cylinder issue warranty w the Bama tune..

I purchased a bama sct tuner for my 2011 v6 stang. Dude, world of difference. American Musscle rocks and so does their tuner. Must must have. For $379.00 and free tunes for life that's the way too go. The tuner unleashes the beast that Ford chains up because of all the federal regulations emissions stuff, fuel efficiency, blah blah blah. Dude I can eat up 2010 stock Gt's all day after the tune.

American Musscle customer service is top notch, A+ that takes time to answer your questions and stand behind their products

For those of you who have an 11 plus 5.0, get a tune and cold air intake and you will be right there with the boss for 8 to 10k less. On a straight 1/4 track you will be right there with the boss. Get the bama tuner. You wont regret

Re: good tune

I would get a tune through Brenspeed, they do free tune upgrade as you buy supporting mods, I just recently got a tune from them and i'm very pleased with the throttle response and also with how great the performance is, just my preference but i'm rocking the Saleen Supercharger too!

No, I haven't. I would probably stick with one of the mainstream tuners like Bama, Lethal, etc. Unless someone here has really good feedback for Amazon...

I agree with skyline247, if you don't know much about a company I would stand clear unless you have the money to blow an engine, I would go with brenspeed and if not them then lethal performance

Re: good tune

Well Brenspeed is the main tuner for Saleen mustang's and they are just now selling the Roush kits. I have bought most of my parts from them but had my car tuned from a place here in Cali but their main tuner left so I just didn't feel comfortable going there without him there so I got a tune from Brenspeed with all my mods and it is really a different car now, i'm very happy with it, I would like to put my car on the dyno soon and see what numbers it puts up, if its the same then all well but it runs really well so just giving you my two cents.

I got the JTL Cold Air Intake with the SCT TUNER!! it added 30 HP! Took it to House Of Boost and fine tuned it. The last Dyno run shows a gain of a total of 42 HP with Roush axel back exhaust !! This was done on a 2012 GT5.0!!! Very happy with it!! Now trying to get grip tru 3rd gear (Manual).
