I would get the GT500 to be honest, that is a really good deal just the shelby options alone are worth it!

Yes! You would have so much potential for engine mods too. And you could make that gt500 look sick.

I would keeo the 5.0 if it was me. The 2010 only has 540hp. Plus they are heavier. With a 4-6k blower you could be crushing GT500's.

Yeah but if you pulley down and build up the 5.4 then you will crush the 5.0, their is no replacement for displacement and you can only build the shelby up!

And If you just go buy used Z06 you can run mid 10's with just tires. The Shelby will need full bolt ons, and more to do that.

The blown 5.0's have hit 9's easier then the GT500's. That is a fact. Less mods and a lot less money.

Well yeah I did the same thing, I bought a Saleen supercharger and have been building my car up and doing pretty good for the money I've spent. I saved money by getting a GT and building it up over buying a Saleen mustang, but I'm just saying you can build a shelby up with less effort and make great times!

I know what your saying. And not really less effort. A blown 5.0 with only a blower will be cheaper than a shelf and out run it. Shelbys look amazing but perform bad for the power they have and the cost. Not to mention the parts are more cause people know its a shelby

Oh yeah it is more expensive for shelby I have looked at parts for just sh!fs and giggles and yeah they do get expensive but yeah I'm more of a Saleen guy anyway LOL

Now you are talking. The wieght was better in 2011 and the 10hp bump didn;t hurt. HAHA

Just keep the 5.0 and wait for a 2013 GT500.

I would only trade for an 2011 SVT package. I saw a used one in New Jersey for 41k.

Re: 2010 GT500 or MY 5.0

i would keep the 5.0 and turbo or supercharge it and be done with it unless you want to race it at the track all the time. I saw a beautiful 5.0 that has done 9.80s and is a street car. Even though i love the gt500s id still keep the 5.0 since you already have it.

It's your call but it's not really a "great" deal. Same car, same color, same miles is on Carmax for same price. That's pretty much the going price for that car.

I would buy an LS7 Z06 or Gt-r before i would buy the 2013 gt500 unless you just like the name. 650hp and looking at a 11.7 1/4? Plus after reading all the engineering they had to do trying to make it dependable? Wtf? The shelbys are poor performers for the price, always have been. Keep the 5.0 and get all the bolt ons available then spank a stock gt500(yes i know its stock but it is still supercharged and 500+hp) if that still isn't fast enough get a blower or spray.

The 2013 GT500 will do better then 11.7. The current one has did low 11s with nothing but tires. Issue is traction off the showroom. And Z06 have same issue. I have seen a lot guys run 12-13 in them as well.

Oh the gt500 for 2010 is 540hp. That is also returned. Stock they put down about 470whp. Tune and you can get about 500whp.

Now a Z06 is bad ***. They have gone 10.7 with just tires and perfect driver and conditions. I would take a new GTR over with. Constant low 11s cs the awd. Mode are expensive. A good full exhaust just cost a guy here 8 grand. Yes that much and was all he did. Full titanium exhaust.

I was talking with stock tires but i do hope it does better then that but don't see it happening. GT-R is a beast but if you're spending all that money mine as well go with the Z06. Gotta love the sound of the 7.0 and the raw NA power.

They have predicted mid 11s with the stock tires on it. They say the launch control helps a lot. Not to mention it will do over 200mph stock. Neither one them will

"Predicted" it will do 202. Z06 does 198, 4mph isnt that big of a deal for an NA car vs blower. You can't compare a GT500 to a Z06 stock for stock or performance wise. Its a naturally aspirated motor with bolt ons and DR's that will run high nines( and yes it will it has been done and consistent low 10's). Throw the weakest supercharger on it and it really crushes the competition. Don't get me wrong i like ford, i have a 12' gt and love it but the GT500 is a dreamers car. I would get the Gt and pocket 20+k haha

70k vs 57k. 7l engine vs 5.8 with blower. 3200lbs vs 3800+lbs. You can compare. But really is unfair as they are two different types cars. The new GT500 should be just as good as a z. And 4mph is a lot at top speed. That is you getting walked away from.

Oh and the z has did low 10s and 9s by one guy. A professional driver. Ranger. Oh and Evan Tanner. With regular drivers they perform just as bad as your average gt500

---------- Post added at 06:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:54 PM ----------

Also i am a member on a few gm sites. I know what z zr1 they all can do. And really the Z06 is a better buy then a zr1.

I hear ya man but no one would be racing to 200 to get walked lol unless you have some major balls. They are two different machines and everyone has there own preference. Me i would get the Z06 if i was spending that kind of money. The car isn't limited to a straight line.

WOW! Really? The now produced GT500's gets owner by the Z06 and the GT-R in every test it is put against. We haven't yet seen the 2013 in action but even with it 100+ hp over the two its still not going to come out on top stock for stock.

The GT500s handle very well. And i would hope a 75k and 90k sports cars would handle better then a 56k muscle car.

The 2013 GT500 is in the new muscle mustangs and fast fords with a full write up and it has a 5.8L and makes a good amount of power it is expensive but each shelby is hand built in Las Vegas,NV. I would love to own one but being in the military kinda doesn't pay enough for that kind of car LOL. If you are wanting a corvette so bad sell your mustang and get it and leave the forum cause my veins are filled with ford blue, I respect what other companies do but I love what ford has done in the last few years and no one can deny the fact they make the best sport car with the ford mustang!

Not really..The 5.4 handles a lot more power tHen the 5.0. There is guys making 800whp on stock 5.4s with no worries. You will not do that in a 5.0

Re: 2010 GT500 or MY 5.0

Sorry guys....hows does a thread asking if I should trade my car for a 40k GT500 turn into I should buy a 100k GT-R? Or an 84k ZO6? Those are great cars... NEVER WOULD OWN EITHER ONE. I have owned over priced over hyped cars before such as a c5 vette and an M3.... both were good performers.... but for the price and especially the price of aftermarket pieces... there are better deals out there. Such as the 5.0 Mustang. And I will say hands down is the funnest car I have ever owned.

See that's what I pretty much said in the beginning if you want to own something other then a mustang why would you buy one and then come on a mustang forum and talk about owning skylines and vettes? I don't get it?

Hi, my name is Dino. I am from Vancouver, BC and I think the 2010 Shelby is the best year to get. I have considered getting rid of my mustangs and buying the 2010 GT 500.
I really like the color combo on the one you are looking at.

While it may have less horsepower than the 2011; I think it will more than make up for it in reliability. I am not a fan of the coating Ford uses on the cylinders of the aluminum block. I really think they should use the old iron sleeve method. Time will tell if it will hold up or be able to be repaired if it throws a rod.

Cheers,
