Cyl 8

Everything that I have read leads me to believe that this issue is on low mileage cars. If I'm at 20k miles is my car still susceptible to this issue? What is causing this to begin with?

Re: Cyl 8

You can see how this happens at about 25 sec. and 59 sec., respectively. The rest deals with the MT82 problem.

Ok some will say its bad tunes. Other will say its how the #8 is cooled that they are getting to hot. Some say it is bad rings. With 29k on the car you should be ok. Most have this issue shortly after getting the car. Or shortly after a tune. Will notice car smoking first. Or a miss fire code.

Re: Cyl 8

Money on the fact if you have a hole going down regularly on any engine it's because the cylinder balance is poor in the manifolding. Either the intake flows too much air to the cylinder, the exhaust scavenging is more effective on that one or the injector placement is promoting fuel dropout.

For an old-school example, #5 was pretty much a dead hole on a stock manifolded 86-95 car. The intake runner was so kinked and bent the cylinder hardly saw any air, comparatively, ran regularly much richer than other holes and contributed less to power output than the other 7.
